Then we might just as well discuss how unusual it seems that a great big deal of the Kharidians are of light skin, given their historically sunny desert-dwelling lifestyle.

Fair point, let's examine this.

First, it's important that, while the Kharidian people have lived in the Kharidian regian for a number of milenia (8000-6000 yrs), humans originally evolved on Teragard and the region only became desert after the Zarosian-Kharidian war.

That means they primarily evolved on a plane that allowed for both phenotypes to exist in some ratio, and came through a single point (the World Gate) before spreading out (original populations of settlements would roughly reflect the ratio between skin colors regardless of climate as they got there via migration).

Furthermore, its only been about 7000 years since the Kharidian region became desert. This is a relatively small period of time in the eyes of evolution. However, you'd still expect there to be more people in the Kharidian region to have darker skin than other regions. This could be explained by a healthy system of emigration and immigration between the various human kingdoms of Runescape, which would allow the various phenotypes to exist in odd ratios for their respective regions.

All that being said, I wouldn't mind at all if Jagex decided to make the Kharidian people in general more dark-skinned so as to suit their region better.

Well kinda interesting topic watered down by someone who sees racism and misogynism behind every corner. *sigh*

Just to say, the fact something doesn't make sense in the context of the fantasy universes rules may or may not be for some people immersion breaking experience regardless the controversy of some topic. People may really be neutral about these topic instead of biased, thus aggressively attacking someones thoughts like an enraged hippo straight on, is maybe even sadder than civilized discussion and letting people explain.

E: And now I am also ashamed of my contribution to this whole incident instead of letting it be like it should have been let on instant.

Please, continue.

Well, we've only seen one small section of Tarddiad, so it's entirely possible that there are other areas where black skin would benefit them evolutionarily. Heck, some trees might be releasing a ton of uv rays and we'd never know. Or maybe elven skin color has a different evolutionary benefit to human skin color.

Many possible answers, but none are definitive.

That's a interesting theory, I can see how the crystal trees and crystal... everything could radiate UVB. However there are no black elves in the Tarddiad area that the player got to explore. But since its only a small part of Tarddiad we got to explore, its still possible. This lead me to a strange revelation however.

What if Eluned and Haluned are black because their crystal singing is different and somewhat more potent then other elves crystal sining, since they are a pat of Seren. May be they make the crystals radiate some king of UVB when they crystal sing (since crystals refract light and crystal sining is essentially a way to change the structure of crystals)? That would explain why Seren created them with darker skin.

Perhaps we don't even need to analyse the crystals themselves for a satisfying answer to this question. The other worlds are planets revolving around different stars, right? Tarddiad's star could in theory produce more UVB than Gielinor's star. That said, not a single star is completely identical to another, there are so many possibilities here. I wonder how the stars of the homeworld of other races influenced their formation.

It could simply be one of a line of random occurrences. There was an African couple that had a white baby. It was theirs and it wasn't due to mix heritage. So you could put down the dark skinned Elves simply to a quirk of nature. It does happen. Or there is stacks of the running about somewhere and we just haven't seen may of them. A greater occurance of melanism among elves is possible as well.

Agreed. We don't need people genuinely curious getting mixed up with idiots pulling GamerGater logic, and being attacked by the people have to demonize everyone just because they want to see villains where there are none.
