Even if Infernals, Chthonians and Avernic are confirmed to not be the same race (are they?), have imps and fiends really been confirmed to be separate?

Imps might be Avernic and fiends might be Chthonian.

Imps and implings really can't be as they feed off of peoples emotions, and from what we know about the Avernic is that they can't eat at all.

Plus their death animation is no where near the same as other Avernic, but that could be just old graphics.

Thirdly it seems very likely that Implings can be born elsewhere then on Infernus, unlike the Avernic who pop out of the fire. Seeing as they have claimed Puro Puro has their home and have tons of baby implings around the place, which would be odd if they were all born back on Infernus.

Mod Jack has said on twitter that there are lesser races though he never said imps were one of them. I believe he said Fiends were though.

Hm, feed off emotions, eh? That does sound interesting... Where's it said, out of curiosity? Maybe it's comparable to the idea about demons sipping souls like fine wine?

Also... How do you know Puro-Puro isn't in the Infernal Dimensions?

Well, the implings didn't originate on Puro-Puro anyway (can't remember the details - see the Puro-Puro section). And it really doesn't look like it's part of Infernus... not quite the fiery hellhole, is it?

I highly doubt Puro-Puro is part of the infernal dimensions for a few reasons firstly this quote

Puro-Puro is the place of ours. We found it. Many others wanted to go there and their desire attracted us to it. Now adventurers come and play with us, desiring our things. It makes our bellies fat and keeps us happy.

It seems imps have full claim to this place, plus you don't find somewhere that you are born into.

As well it often makes random portals to gielinor, for a worlds across the entire universe this doesn't seem very likely. (Actualy that are called gates according to the Wandering Impling)

Plus every discription of infernus has been calling a full full of fire, there is no way a random wheat field could grow.

For them eating including the first quote

Have you got tasty things in your pockets? We shall have them. All of them. Give them unto us! I sense gems in your pockets. We shall take them. I'm hungry. I need them. What else do you have? Coins, seem most desired of all. Post bag 23

We want things you people want. They are tasty to us! The more you want them, the tastier they are!...

But chase us, yes! That is good. Implings are not easy to catch. Especially the ones with really tasty food.

Iminezz (The impling in puro puro)

Also like Imps, they love collecting things.

Fairy Aeryka

For it being them feeding off of souls I find that unlikely as they don't actually touch or have any contact with souls,(Not to mention they aren't dead) also the context for them eating things flips around, i'm not sure whether they feed off of the energy or they actually eat the things. Either way its something Avernic don't do

To add on to them not being able to be Avernic they have actually babies.

One of the gwd bodyguards for K'rill says it can fit a adult imp in its mouth implying there are young impls, as well there are baby implings.

Based on whats said in the Avernic book it seems to imply to me that demons pop out fully formed, and not like babies.

Imo i think imps and implings are either a lesser species, or the implings and imps are not demons and were never from Infernus but rather implings is the original species and imps are the result of them consuming demons, or feeding off of demon emotions, much like our hell cats, because of that now a bunch of them are stuck in infernus and used as warriors and energy sources.

About souls. You know the photo booth? The wizard Iconis originally worked to create a scrying orb for the purpose, but after all he did, this imp teleported in and broke it. But he learned that imps do a thing where they take people's images... So he's using the imp for the photo booth instead of an orb. But the imp, according to Iconis, didn't tell him *why* imps do this...

And you know how the Amish believe that if someone takes your photograph...

(As for the Puro-Puro place thing. 'place' doesn't mean 'plane'. It could be a specific spot... But either one of us could be right at this point.)

Edit: Forgot to mention - You said it seems imps have full claim to this place. Well, *implings* may, but imps don't necessarily.

Yes, imps are not confirmed to be Avernic nor are fiends confirmed to be Chthonian.

Demons are not a race on its own, but a mixture of various races all originating from the same world.

Puro-Puro

While it may not belong to the imps, there are 3 npc* that say that Implings are either related or the same species. As well you have ingame evidence with them both feeding of the wants and desires of mortals, they both have the same unique teleportation magic (Imo their teleportation magic is very important to imp lore) As well as imps protect implings in puro puro like guards or parents. Also the official wiki says Tstanon Karlak, Destroyer of one thousand planes. With jaws large enough to swallow an adult imp whole Implying that there are non adult imps

With all that I would say its pretty safe to assume they are the same race but...

Say implings aren't baby imps or are demonized implings, and that they are just related, like a dog is related to a coyote, well that wouldn't make sense since all Avernic come from the fire, that would mean imps would not even be related in the slightest, and we would have two near identical species growing up on two different planets (Where ever implings came from), and then the imps randomly start protecting these little guys on their new planet for some random reason.

Souls

While I am hesitant to use the photo booth as real lore since it breaks to fourth wall, I don't really know about them taking your soul from a picture booth, heck Nomad should have got an army of imps and demanded that he needs team shots from every soul wars team.

Assuming it can be considered canon personally I think the picture taking ability is something they worked on so that they could blackmail, or plan hiests for valuable items.

I might respond to other things later, but for now - About your hypothesis on imps being 'demonised implings'...

Implings are also demons, according to Beauty in the 2011 Hallowe'en event. I saved her quotes on the various creatures in a Notepad file, and for nature implings...

'Nature implings are mostly green, and some might say, er...cute? A very low order of demon, too.'
