2.1.7) Khazard - Gnome War
¤
While General Khazard's Fight Arena had been looming over the Tree Gnome Village, the two had not come into conflict until after King Healthorg's death, when elections began in the Tree Gnome Stronghold. The political battle was between Argenthorg, Healthorg's son, and Bolrie, leader of the Village. The latter hired an advisor - unfortunately he did not realise it was Glouphrie the Untrusted, who had been banished after Argento's murder, in disguise. As part of his plan to help Bolrie win by incriminating Argenthorg of love for humans, he indicated the human race as a major threat and urged Bolrie to declare war on Khazard, who had a large human army.

Bolrie complied and the gnomes entered a bloody war against Khazard's forces. This war lasts to this day on the battlefield north of the village on the banks of the River Dougne. Khazard's forces consist of simple troops armed with maces or spears - they did steal the gnomes' protection orbs though, but an adventurer retrieved it. Khazard spies infiltrate the gnome ranks by wearing green and crawling on their knees, but these are usually quickly spotted. The gnomes, led by Commander Montai, make use of many archers in addition to ballistas, terrorbird-mounted troops and Lieutenant Schepbur's hitherto undeployed Armoured Tortoise Regiment.

2.1.8) Misthalin - Morytania War
¤
Around the beginning of the Fourth Age's second millennium, Lord (Lowerniel Vergidiyad) Drakan began to expand Morytania to the west, attacking Misthalin with his vamp{yr}ic armies. The humans retaliated and thus a war erupted.

After years of battle, Misthalin eventually succeeded in warding of the vampyres, who retreated across the Salve after battling at Silvarea, although Lowerniel's brother Count Victor Draynor was left behind with his servant Ruantun.

This happened under leadership of a band of devout Saradominist fighters, the Seven Priestly Warriors, who "stood side by side to prevent the evil from entering Misthalin again." As the last battles took place, the warriors blessed the River Salve, turning it into a barrier that would keep Morytania's evil contained.

A temple, Paterdomus, was erected on that spot and six of the seven warriors - Erysail the Pious, Derygull Templeton, Iriandul Caistlyn, Sarl Dunegun, Essiandar Gar and Friar Twiblick - were buried there. One, however, Ivandis Seergaze, was buried beneath Mort Myre Swamp itself, hidden under The Hollows, as told by one of the soldiers that marked his tomb: Keorgius Feryis.

2.1.9) Naragun God Wars
¤
War erupted on the planet Naragun when the native Naragi refused to worship the young and arrogant god Saradomin, who subsequently attacked. The Naragi were pretty much slaughtered, and their cities, such as Askroth, fell as well. But soon the bestial and mindless god Tuska arrived as well. Without conscience and controlled by her airut, she brought even more destruction. Feeling remorse, Saradomin attempted to stop her, but failed, and eventually fled the realm. The next god to arrive, Skargaroth, also made Tuska his enemy, and blinded her with his sword. A Naragi named Guthix who'd lost his daughter Aagi when Skargaroth crushed her in a brawl with Tuska killed Skargaroth with the god's own sword, becoming a god himself. The wars were technically over, but he was just about the last Naragi alive.

2.1.10) Quin Conflicts
¤
Around 149 of the Fifth Age (fun fact: Melville Grayzag began experimenting with void portals that same year), a seasinger from the Wushanko Isles, an archipelago belonging to the Eastern Lands, came into possession of an Elder Artefact, the horn, and used it to control all of Wushanko's sea monsters safely from her island Paradise.

Attacking ships and settlements, she declared herself a goddess. After an assassination attempt by the Death Lotus in 167 failed, she was finally killed two years later by a party consisting of Zu-Zu, Hubbub, Ling and John Strum.

2.1.11) Runecrafting Crusades
¤
In 5.42, Gunnar, chieftain of a Fremennik mountain clan, led his men on a rampage across RuneScape in an attempt to destroy all runecrafting altars, since runecrafting was deemed to be exclusive to the gods. They did not realise, however, that the actual altars were in pocket dimensions, but they did manage to reduce the temples their ancestors had built to ruins. The raging Fremennik swept across the land and attacked nearly anything magical. In 47, the Mage Training Arena near Al Kharid was levelled. They also attacked the hall of Camdozaal, annihilating and driving the Imcando dwarves, who had been using magical superheating, to extinction.

The barbarians were fairly successful, seeing that all of the temples that they could access are indeed in ruins. In 62, however, they ran out of steam and settled in a village on the bank of the River Lum, between Varrock and Falador. This has since been named Gunnarsgrunn. Others, including invasion leaders such as Svein and Holdbodi, continued to guard the essence stolen from the wizards as The Untainted in the 'Mountain of Fire' in the Wilderness.

2.1.12) Thorobshuun - Gnome War
¤
As a result of the goblin conflicts (see Feldip Hills Civil War and Battle of Atarisund{r)i), the Thorobshuun tribe came into conflict with the Tree Gnome Stronghold. The gnomish "victory" at Atarisundri, however, drove the goblins back, ending the war. They are known by the gnomes simply as the Goblin Wars.

2.2) Civil Wars

2.2.1) Dorgeshuun Civil War
¤
Some time after Dorgesh-Kaan was founded, the city's population felt a military force was no longer necessary and it was determined the city would best fare as a republic led by a Council. However, General Bonehelm refused to disband his army and continued to rule as goblin generals had previously. Republicans demanded that he resign, to which he attacked the city, thrusting the Dorgeshuun into a civil war. Although outnumbered, Bonehelm's military was much better equipped for combat and the two sides engaged in a bloody battle.

Surprisingly, the civilians were successful in driving Bonehelm's forces out of the city and into the caves to the south, where the general set up a base of operations. His army captured large amounts of giant frogs to use as mounts. Even so, the Second Battle of Dorgesh-Kaan ended with the army's retreat, despite the use of frogs. Their rapid retreat caused the caves to collapse however, burying Bonehelm and his army under layers of rock. Thus Dorgesh-Kaan became a republic.

2.2.2) Eastern Sea Civil War
¤
Not too long ago, the mighty fleet of Rabid Jack, captain of The Scourge , lay siege on the pirate homebase Mos Le'Harmless and desired to conquer it, beginning a civil war. However, not least due to the efforts of Gentleman Mallard, the pirates narrowly succeeded in repelling Jack's fleet, who renamed his ship This Albatross and fled southwards.

He set up base in the Cursed Archipelago, a group of islands said to be tainted by dark magics, where the other pirates dared not show themselves. From there, he could continue leading attacks on the pirate territories. This, in turn, led to the start of the Customs Anti-Piracy Campaign, to which the Pirate Council decided that Jack had to be defeated once and for all. At the Battle of the Cursed Archipelago, the pirate navy annihilated Jack's fleet, who jumped overboard, seemingly committing suicide.

The civil war was thought to be over, but in 169 he returned as Captain Donnie and The Inebriated lay siege on Braindeath Isle to accumulate large doses of 'rum' in order to build a mutated crab army, Mi-Gor took over Harmony Isle, and Mechanical Murphy and he started a Barrelchest factory on the isle of Bloodsplatter, planning to invade Mos Le'Harmless with a zomboat armada.

2.2.3) Elven Civil War
¤
Some time after The Break Out, the Iorwerth Clan of elves seized power and conquered Prifddinas, evicting the other clans and murdering thousands of elves, throwing Tirannwn into a civil war. It is unknown for how long Lord Iorwerth ruled, but in 1930 of the Fourth Age, King Baxtorian and the Cadarn Clan found out about the Iorwerth treachery as a result of The Great Divide (Adwr Cadarn returned through the Underground Pass and reported what had happened), and marched on Prifddinas to reconquer the city.

His campaign would take five years but the Iorwerths proved superior. Defeated, his army returned only to find his empire in ruins and his wife Glarial taken by the enemy. The grief-stricken king is said to have buried himself beneath the waterfalls now named after him, while the other elves, such as Ilfeen, returned to Tirannwn, where the Iorwerths attemped to finish them off, forcing them to hide in the forest of Isafdar, living as rebels. Amongst these was Islwyn, Baxtorian's grandson.

To protect it, the Elven Elders reverted Prifddinas to a crystal seed and stored it in the Grand Library before going into hiding (see Elven Council of Elders section). The war persisted until 6.1, when the rebel elves infiltrated the undercity of Prifddinas and, with the help of the Tyras Army and the Ardougne Revolution, evicted the Iorwerths and restored the city, ending the civil war with Lord Iorwerth's death.

2.2.4) Feldip Hills Civil War
¤
At the dawn of the Fourth Age, the ogres of Gu'tanoth united and, since their god Bandos was no longer there to lead them, began what was effectively a mass genocide of the goblins living in the Feldip Hills. The much weaker goblins stood no chance against the ogre oppressors and fled northwards, raiding Baxtorian's elven kingdom along the way.

As the travelling goblin tribes met resistance from elves, gnomes and humans alike, their diaspora eventually ended in what is now central Kandarin, south of Isla Anglerina, where the eleven tribes engaged in combat with one another due to the lack of food and resources, beginning the Battle of the Plain of Mud.

2.3) Battles

2.3.1) Battles in Misthalin

¤ In 169 of the Fifth Age, goblins east attacked and raided Lumbridge east of the River Lum, pillaging and destroying houses and murdering people such as one of the three survivors of the destruction of Crandor, Lozar, and the entire family of William, who later joined H.A.M. for this reason. The Lumbridge Guardsmen responded to the
Battle of East Lumbridge
and most goblins who weren't killed managed to get away, except for Wormbrain, who had been looting Lozar's house and was incarcerated in Port Sarim Jail. To this day the area east of the Lum is infested by goblins and contains mostly ruins of houses.

¤ Just after the start of the Sixth Age, the chaos god Zamorak created a portal in the forest west of the duchy of Lumbridge and emerged from it, eager to harvest the power of the late Guthix that was stored beneath. Saradomin arrived and intervened, however, challenging Zamorak in order to protect his people and get the power for himself. The two gods attacked each other with magical blasts, beginning the
Battle of Lumbridge
, which unfortunately obliterated the forest entirely, turning it into a large crater. Saradomin summoned an army of White Knights while Zamorak called forth the Kinshra, to which the two sides clashed in battle, with demons, behemoths, lions, constructs and centaurs later joining as well. The battle ended ten weeks later when Saradomin had managed to gather more of Guthix' power than Zamorak and defeated his opponent, who was teleported to safety by his general Moia before Saradomin could kill him.

¤ The end of the Misthalin-Morytania War was marked by the Misthalanian victory at the
First Battle of the Salve
when the human forces, led by the Seven Priestly Warriors, managed to drive back the evil denizens of Morytania back to their lands. The five Princes of Misthalin - Tenebra, Bran, Hywell, Henry and their youngest brother - fought in the battle but the former four would not return to Avarrocka. The River Salve was blessed by the seven priests to act as a barrier, preventing Drakan's forces from crossing it, although a small number of vampyres had remained west of the river, now trapped. Most notable amongst these was Lowerniel Drakan's brother Victor. The temple Paterdomus was erected on the site of the battle in the Seven Priestly Warriors' honour. It became tradition for Misthalanian monarchs to pay their respects at Paterdomus.

¤ In the early 160s of the Fifth Age, Lord Shadwell of the Kinshra marched on the Ghost Town west of Varrock for unknown reasons, with Solus Dellagar amongst his ranks. However, Dellagar betrayed the Kinshra and began an utter massacre of the town's residents and the Black Knights themselves, killing approximately 800 people. The White and Temple Knights swiftly intervened and the latter managed to apprehend Dellagar, banishing him from Asgarnia, but not before he managed to kill another 800 White Knights, earning him titles such as The Murder Mage. This tragic event is known as the
Edgeville Incident
and lasted several days. In the aftermath, Ghost Town became a hub for criminals from the Wilderness due to the inflicted damage to the buildings and demography, despite King Roald's appointing a governor, whose attempts to restore the town were futile.

¤ Around 720 of the Fourth Age, while Arrav was away in search of what would become known as the Shield of Arrav, the goblin tribes living in the nearby village attacked the city, which was burnt to the ground in the ensuing battle. A relatively small number of survivors managed to escape the
Burning of Avarrocka
and hid in the city's sacred place to the east. When Arrav returned, he permanently made peace with the goblins diplomatically rather than unleashing his wrath.

¤ A decade after the goblins' attack, the Mahjarrat Zemouregal, who sought to obtain Arrav's shield, marched on Avarrocka with a massive army of undead. In spite of the city's fortifications, Zemouregal's
Invasion of Avarrocka
proved disastrous, not least due to the Mahjarrat's variety of attacks and his resurrection of the slain Avarrockians as additions. Arrav managed to wipe out the entire undead army using his shield, but in doing so exposed himself to Zemouregal's attacks, who killed the hero and retreated with his body.

¤ In 169 of the Fifth Age, the
Occupation of Paterdomus
occurred swiftly as Zamorakian monks stormed the temple of Paterdomus, slaughtering the defenceless residents and destroying the interior. Only two known monks of the Saradominist Order of Paterdomus survived, Drezel and Hi{y}lik Mina, and the Zamorakians claimed the temple, although they were unable to get past its guardian Cerberus in the basement.

¤ The
Siege of Varrock
was an attack on Varrock orchestrated by the *ahjarrat Lucien, who sought to obtain the legendary Shield of Arrav to amplify his power. In 154 of the Fifth Age, he invaded the city with an army of undead as well as the powerful sorcerer Solus Dellagar. Despite the invaders' power, the city militia was supplied with runestones and thus able to repel the attackers quickly.

2.3.2) Battles in Asgarnia

¤ As part of the Runecrafting Crusades, Gunnar's tribe rampaged through the Imcando dwarves' settlements beneath Ice Mountain, since these actively practised magical superheating. The dwarves were no match for the raging Fremennik, and the
Battle of Camdozaal
ended with the great hall's utter destruction and the Imcando's near-extinction.

¤ After Sir Amik Varze declared that the Kinshra were to have no political whatsoever in Asgarnia after the Edgeville Incident in 163, the Black Knights were angered immensely. Lord Milton immediately declared war and his Commander Daquarius Renna*r)d led his contingent to the Asgarnian capital, sparking the
Battle of North Falador
. Both sides were evenly matched, however, ending the encounter in a stalemate, after which the Kinshra retreated.

¤ Some time between 164 and 168 of the Fifth Age, the White Knights launched an operation known as the
Dawn Ascent
to capture the Kinshra knight Iban, who posed a large threat. Iban killed many White Knights in battle however, and their efforts were in vain. Disobeying his officer's orders to get Iban alive, Sir Owen Sonde assassinated him from the top of a hill, ending the battle, although Sonde was disgraced and recruited by the Temple Knights instead.

¤ In 169 of the Fifth Age, a beastmaster known as Carn invaded Taverley with herds of wild animals, sparking the
Taverley Incident
. In the ensuing chaos, he kidnapped the druid Pikkupstix and forced him to teach him the art of summoning, taking him to the dungeons of Daemonheim. Sir Owen Sonde, Ozan and Ariane went in pursuit and eventually freed Pikkupstix and killed Carn.
