Well all what you said made sense, except for that last Saradomin part which I know you are still gonna develop upon :)

Thanks, yeah I'm gonna develop Saradomin later. Initially, this was going to be a Saradomin thread but the introduction on Zaros and Seren was too big lol.

A very interesting theory and it makes perfect sense.

In my opinion, I think this personified nature of gods only truly applies to the Elder Gods, Zaros and Seren because they were created and programmed with specific personality traits. I'm not sure how you were planning to cover it, but just from what I think, Saradomin and the other young gods aren't personifications since they were all once mortals. They just use their philosophies to establish followings in the same vein as political parties.

That's an interesting point but actually I think that is exactly why the younger gods can share this mythology. I hint at it in the conclusion, but just as Seren and Zaros are driven to own their purposes in the nature of things, the younger gods have to entirely replace nature to enforce their own views on things, hence where their higher level philosophies come into play. So it would kind of follow a scale of Nature, Zaros' control of nature, Saradomin's rejection of nature. Hope that helps but doesn't give away too much.

So how was your Philo 101 class today, Stannis?

In all seriousness this is an interesting examination, but I feel that the existence of the Elders muddles your conclusions significantly. How do you reconcile your labeling of Zaros and Seren as father and mother figures, respectively, with the very literal "mothers" of creation?

With no mention of any cosmic force of insemination, I've always assumed the Elders were only nominally female. Gender is a necessity of reproduction, after all.

I am studying philosophy atm actually, bit i have no notion of how this relates to my post which is clearly one of literary criticism?

I think I reason clearly that the Elder gods are the mother and father figures of Seren and Zaros, and To claim her place and the next Mother Figure Seren has to merely exist, in the way she was created as part of the universe, wheras Zaros must rebel against that to be the Father figure, in the typical Fruedian way. What about that isn't clear?

It was a joke. Hence the "In all seriousness" in the following paragraph.

How are the Elders father figures? Especially the other Elders (excepting Mah), who have no direct relation to Zaros and Seren. Further, the only Elder that can be precisely described as a mother figure is Mah. Can you really project her characterization onto the rest of them?

Seren's explicit personality and goals seem to be at odds with your conclusions, too. She has no desire to ascend to Elder godhood -- to "claim her place," as you say (unless you mean something else by that, in which case please do elaborate). Also, her emphasis on isolation as well as her focus on (one might even say preference for) the elves make it a little difficult to see her as a universal mother figure -- the capital-M Mother Figure, as you say.
