Hi everyone, I'm not usually around the lore forums much. Usually my home is the RP forums.

But this juicy detail I found... It made me very motivated to share what I found.

This right here, is Loki, God of Mischief and Trickery. Does he look familiar, at all?

In the Above the Lore of Sliske, Mod Osbourne mentioned the masks of Sliske were unintentional, and thought of later after how an artist interpreted his face. Sliske may have purposefully been given an appearance like Loki. Why is this important? Let's take a peak at what exactly Sliske/Loki had done.

Sliske was behind the death of Guthix, a widely beloved God. Loki is believed to be behind the death of Baldr, also a widely beloved God and Mentor to Thor. (This will be important later.)

Loki inadvertently brought upon the endtimes, Ragnarok.
Sliske brought upon the Second God Wars, and were the World Gate not open from Zaros' actions of the Sixth age, the Elder Gods would not stir so soon, as Xenia wouldn't have drained them early.

In Norse mythology, every God has a rival who during Ragnarok, will kill them.

Thor had the Midguard Serpent.
Odin had the wolf Fenrir.
And Loki? Loki was to be killed by Heimdallr, the Watcher on the walls of Asgard, gaurding the Gods.

The key point of Norse myth, is the rival and God both die. V, a practitioner of Guthix's beliefs and Hero-God (Like Thor) was killed by Tarshak, a reptilian Dragonkin (Like the Serpent.) The poison of V's energy to Tarshak, was eventually and inevitably his downfall, just as the venom of the Serpent killed Thor.

Clearly, Jagex does know their Norse Myths. And Sliske has many similarities to Loki.

Because Sliske has a piece of our Soul, many speculate this means Sliske is not killable by Gods. We, a mortal World Guardian alone have the power to do so.

Chances are, we both will either die, trap Sliske, or lose something great with beating him.

We're mortal are we? That's news.

I asked Mod Raven specifically about the piece of our soul yesterday, questioning if we're now useless in the face of gods, because I'd imagine if you saw someone coming your way who'd disrupt your plans you'd rather they be on the other side of the world, so you'd teleport them there.

We've apparently only lost a very small piece of our essence, a chink in our armor instead of a huge chunk missing. We can still stand up to gods we don't like, just slightly less than before.

Now the kicker is, he cryptically said we should wonder who now has that part of our soul, the obvious answer is Sliske. because, well, he's the one who took it. But could he have given it to someone else? Perhaps Nomad for round 3? To his master, perhaps?

Good theory.

It's worth noting that just as V and Tarshak parallel Thor and the Midgard Serpent, so too does Sliske and Guthix parallel Loki and Heimdallr.

Sure, Guthix won't be killing Sliske directly, but we do carry his blessing to this day. And whether it is our interference or him using the bit of power he stole from us, Guthix's power is likely going to be involved in Sliske's downfall (I'm hoping he doesn't die).

But then there's the most interesting bit. If all of these parallels are intended, who are our Odin and Fenrir (as well as Tyr, since he also apparently gets killed by Fenrir, and Vidar, Odin's son who actually kills Fenrir)?

There's also apparently a bit of the myth that describes the involvement of the fire jotnar of Muspelheim. We, of course, have a lovely little plane of fire in game named Muspell and have only just heard of the Queen of Ashes whose name indicates an association with fire.

It would be too easy to say our Fenrir was Fenrir wouldn't it? Or the Fenris wolves. Anyway, If we want to keep the familial connections between characters (Fenrir being the son of Loki for example), then I fear this would pretty much be impossible. So let's just ignore who's who's father/brother/mother and just look at who kills who.

Honestly I have no idea. I suppose if we made Zaros Odin (even though Saradomin is arguably more similar), Fenrir would be Zamorak (which kind of fits with the whole growing larger/breaking his chains thing :P ) and Tyr would be... Saradomin? Or Tyr could be Zaros because he bound Fenrir (to the empire, stagnation etc etc. you get the idea) and lost a hand (his physical body).

Nah that probably won't work.

As is to be expected, there's a shitton of different versions of this. I believe in one of them Tyr fights Hel's wolf, Garm, at Ragnarok. Now, Hel could probably be either Icthlarin or Death, but I think Icthlarin works better as Garm... Because he's a dog... But tbh I don't see him killing any more gods, so that comparison is moot.

Alright I can't find any notable comparisons.

Anyway, I think there are more parallels to be found with Ragnarok. First thing that comes to mind is how the sun will turn black.

Though tbh I think the great revision is more likely to have ragnarok parallels than endgame.

I have noticed your kind does tend to blindly stumble forward towards danger simply because it exists. What is your word for that?

I'm not going to pretend to understand a damn thing about Norse Mythology, because well.. I don't.

I've always believed we were Sliske's only true foil. Without us around, he was free to do as he wished, nobody has ever stood up to him like we have. That being said though, I hope he doesn't die.

I vote for the death. It is not that big deal. We have canonically died three times already. Fourth wouldn't be that bad

This is my personal speculation:

Sliske might either give the stone of Jas to the winner of the contest, or use the stone of jas to kill the winner. When he gives the stone of Jas, you must notice that during that time a sun eclipse is taking place, meaning that whole Gielinor will be shadowed by the moon. Sliskes main power is the power of the shadow realm, and betrayal. I think at least one god will meet the void.

Maybe that's his plan, but who says that it can't go wrong. Remember that we did some things in
Kindred Spirits
that we most certainley will see the full consequences of during the Endgame.

Another thing we have to remember is that a Dragonkin is qualified for the Endgame, and will most certainley be there, since Jagex has stated that V will affect the Endgame, but maybe not in person. Therefore, maybe more than one god will meet the void during the Endgame.

But, Jagex has also said that the endgame won't necesarilly have a big battle in it.

So i just have to admit it, i'm lost O_o
