I really like this theory and I think it's completely plausible we just need to work in a reason for the zombie pirates and I think it would be complete. The Underwater City could be the destroyed civilization for instance, which once held the cave horrors we see today.

For that potential origin story to work in the context of what's already canon, you'd need to insert some sort of magic shenanigans for the concept of Xau-Tak to cross between worlds as well as timelines.

I really do like the idea of stand alone complex Xau-Tak, though. It sets up a horrifying external antagonist, only to flip it and make you recognize that it was internal all along. Hopefully Jagex is incorporating that idea at least a little bit.
Patrolling Lore FC almost makes you wish for a Great Revision.

The problem with the Xau-Tak doesn't exist/is a disease/whatever theory is that SOMETHING is hanging around the Eastern Seas resurrecting the dead and driving people mad. You never were our brightest star, Khazard. 'Vermin slaughtered like lambs'? What does that even mean?

So I asked on the Q&A why Zaros and Seren couldn't together, or separately, take issue if Xau-Tak were to ever do something unsavory and just wipe it out.

Apparently they're not powerful enough to do so. Concerning.

Xau-Tak was also referenced as a "They" implying two.

Xau and Tak?

I wish we could have learned more of Xau Tak and the QoA from V he seemed to have known some things about them, their intentions and whereabouts. We did have the fallen nihil event which was oriented around the QoA and I can't help but think that Deathbeard is in somehow related to Xau Tak so maybe these two will be making an appearance soon.
