this thread got bigger.

Has anything happened recently?

I haven't followed it that closely, but I think there was a debate about whether or not Saradomin abandoned humanity.

He was blocked from the world by Guthix, and returned the very second the edicts were removed.

/discussion.

No because it was about before Guthix was a god.

Briefly explain the points for and against please :)

For: There appears to be a quote from someone in the lore department directly saying he likely abandoned his human following before arriving on Gielinor. Apart from that, the only evidence against is his nature.

Against: His nature wouldn't suggest this is the case.

The nature argument is debatable, but I'm currently looking for the statement. According to the party supporting this stance, it's in the Divination launch livestream.

I am having trouble finding the video, i haven't searched for it before as I watched it live, so while searching I came to the conclusion that it seems they might have deleted it. If you google search mod Osborn divination live stream, you should find a reddit page that list everything discussed. I know it's not great, but it is for real. I was actually in the video, well my game character near the very end.

There are a few more quotes that were posted awhile back, 2 pages I believe, that seem to support Saradomin not being around. One from a FAQ and another from the campfire.

Searching "Runescape Divination Livestream" brings up 2 videos: One of them is 4 hours long and the other 1 and a half. So far I'm 3 hours into the former and everyone has said "Go ask Osborne" when presented with a lore question, though they have said Mod Chaose would make an appearance.

Check the one hour and a half one, mod o didn't talk for long, and it other then a few small cameos didn't have other mods in it. I seem to remember Osborn hugging some guy, and talking about coming back from a wedding party or something.

Quote is as follows:

So why Saradomin didn't stay with humans? Well, he kind of lead kind of Alexander the Great style a lot of this kind of... all these incursions into other planes. And also eventually he found other races he considered to be more important or better at what they do than the humans. So he kind of almost abandoned them and that's something we're going to explore a bit more.

It's important to note that, while I'm not a great stenographer, I did word this as closely to verbatim as I could.

Q: When Guthix brought humans to Gielinor, did they already know of Saradomin? Why or why not?
Mod Raven: Yes, Saradomin was the god that governed the humans, though they may not have seen him for a while.
Mod Osborne: It would be interesting to know if these humans told Guthix about Saradomin, and whether Guthix then related that to the Saradomin of his homeworld. Did he bring the humans to Gielinor, and away from Saradomin, as some form of revenge?

Thanks and here is another one from the campfire

Ok here's a big one why did Guthix bring humans to Gielinor? It was said that Guthix only brought beings who had no knowledge of gods but humans did being that they knew Saradomin.

Raven:

The humans that Guthix took to Gielinor were one of the colonies of Teragard and had likely been away for long enough that their culture moved away from the worship of gods to something more specific to their world.

= Raven =

Based on the jmod quotes we can certainly say that Saradomin was not part of the picture sometime after the Naragi Wars. He was no longer worshiped by them.

To back this up with in game lore.

Player: Amazing! How many times did you see him? What of the other gods, Zamorak and Saradomin?
Laura: Other gods? I’ve not heard those names before.

As you can see by the first age, Terraguardians don't even know who Saradomin is, further proof Saradomin left.

We can accept that Saradomin left them, but based on the reasoning, I can't see why it is a challenge.

He cannot be everywhere, and naturally when taking races int new and dangerous situations he will take the most effective races.

Furthermore, the quote is "almost abandoned", thus necessarily consistent with "not abandoned".

One last point ; this supports Saradomin as wanting his races to live happily in peace, rather than them mindlessly worshiping him, otherwise he would have made sure they remembered him and his religion.
