Don't take it so hard. Wahisietel DOES have thousands of years of loyalty and suffered persecution He's been Zaros' loyal general longer than Nex and has been a follower longer than Char as well and he's still not in Zaros' inner circle. It isn't about service, it's about loyalty. A lot of loyalty

Zamorak's a pretty paranoid deity, but Zaros takes it to a new level. Service isn't enough. And loyalty alone doesn't cut it. You need to be beyond loyal, you need to be psychologically dependant on Zaros for him to trust you.
Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

The fact he thinks I can't be trusted after all I've done...that makes me want to sit in a corner, sigh and feel forever depressed. I get that I'm not Azzanadra, I don't have centuries of service behind me, but I did prove myself when I helped Azzy restore the underground temple at the Dig Site and when I sided with Zaros in The World Wakes. The fact he'd disregard all that like it didn't exist, well...it really grinds my gears.

And some people did betray him after doing all that even with all his sweet talking. He tries to work to put the odds in his favor as much as he reasonably can, likely because he knows from first hand experience (Zaros's failed attempt to hold Zamorak in his own mind and the corruption within the empire stand out most of all) that he really can't ever be sure that his efforts have worked until after the situation has resolved.

I'm not the only Zarosian who's annoyed at that. I can't really fault Zamorak for being pissed off when he found out Zaros only saw him as some mercenary, in his mind, where Zaros (most likely) couldn't like to him no less.
You're wrong, your actions prove nothing. It's true that we've been instrumental in Zaros' return; he probably thinks of us as tremendously useful, if not critical, to his agenda. But thinking that you can prove your loyalty to him with a few pro bono actions is laughable. He is very probably the most obsessively paranoid being in the universe right now. Consider his inner circle: Char, Azzy and Nex are all pathologically loyal, i.e. their continued service is effectively 100% guaranteed. Compared to them, your handful of fidelity is nothing. To get on their level, you'd need a lobotomy or something. This is even assuming that Zaros is able to know for certain that our motivations for following him are pure, and not, for example, the result of our own ambitions -- in which case, his distrust would be very obvious.

In Fate of the Gods, Zaros enters our minds, and tells us everything, including this line:

"Know this - I will never lie to you. And in this place you would sense if I did."

With that in mind, he says that he saw the Mahjarrat as
"younger siblings and [he] sought to protect them."

But in Children of Mah, while he's in Zamorak's mind, he says
"You are nothing but glorified mercenaries, fighting for whoever is top of the food chain."

(I'd also assume the same rules apply to Zamorak's mind.)

So which is it? The former or the latter?

Or did he lie to us about not being able to lie when he's in our heads? (in which case, anything he says could be suspected as a lie).

1) He's changed his perspective on things. Being "slain" by Zamorak seems to have humbled him.

2) He was playing mind games on Zamorak at the time, trying to cripple his resolve and will to fight.

Hazeel and Raleirosen are right. To make Zaros trust you...well...that seems to be almost impossible (not even Wahi was good enough). I get he's paranoid about betrayal by his own people (I get that, and I can relate to it in a way irl--and that's all I'll say) but holy **** does this guy take it to a new level. It's kind of insane IMO.

I'm not happy of course about Zaros ignoring the things I'd done, but facts don't care about my feelings, I have to accept the facts. What else can a guy do?

(No, I don't think that's taking it too hard).

So we're just going to pretend like there weren't a stabbing, a death, and about 6000 years of loneliness and time to re-evaluate life between one statement and the next?

That's the spirit, m80. You're well on your way towards becoming a true realist Zarosian.
