What Secrets Remain (5th age)

Hey guys,

Apologies for the rubbish title, I couldn't think of a better wording.

I've been doing some digging around into the remaining 5th age questlines and where they need to go from where they are now and it seemed like a good idea to get you guys helping me out.

Basically, what I want to know are what plothooks NEED to be resolved (in your minds) for the remaining 5th age questlines (not including penguins, which totally doesn't count).

The lore council obviously has quite a good idea of what we believe needs covering and where the stories should go, but we've lost a few of the original developers for those questlines and I figured the next best source of information would be you guys. I'd like to get your ideas independently so that your thoughts are not coloured by ours. ;)

Please try and group things by questline:


E.g
Gnomes
* What is Glouphie up to
* What is Arposandra
* etc

If possible try and write the plotlines in order of importance.

If you have less important 5th age queries from the quests (what was this guy up to? Where did the thing go?) try and keep them separate from the main ones.

The whole mystery behind King Vallance's death, as well as the political machinations of the White Knights should be dealt with.

The identity of the conspirators in Paterdomus should really be addressed as well.

I came up with the idea that Xau-Tak might be involved in Menaphos and the insanity of Amascut. This was in my entry in the Library Competition, and then there's the dialogue of Lookout Ekahi from the crew aboard the Sarim's Revenge.

Lookout Ekahi: I don't like it here, captain. I can feel...something beneath this city.

Player: Something good or something bad?

Lookout Ekahi: Hmm, neither, I think. Just something 'other'.

Ekahi also mentions that cyclopes have sharpened their senses all around to compensate for a lack of depth perception. And his statement that there is something 'other' beneath Menaphos implies that there's an alien force at work. Amascut as we know isn't really alien to the desert at all; she was there since before the Mahjarrat. And she became disturbed when she encountered Mah, but I don't think this caused her to immediately go mad.

Before her descent into madness, Amascut protected the bodies of the dead and, according to Thaerisk Cemphier, was also a goddess of reincarnation who gave the most worthy souls another chance. And it wasn't until after Senliten ruled that she went berserk; this being after the Kharidian Lands turned into a desert. Now we know that Tumeken did this by blowing himself up and razing the once pristine plains, so this would be another contribution to Amascut losing it. And her former alignment to reincarnation isn't fitting to dark powers or corruption.

So my best guess for what really finished her off was Xau-Tak, who is implied as an alien force and likely uses dark powers; necromancy would naturally be hated by the gods of the Underworld who guide souls of the dead. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

Also, are the Sea Slug and Pirate quest series linked?

- Pretty much all of it. But I think the most important thing would be to set up some repotoir between the Zamorakians and the player where they owe Zamorak a favour or something to better explain why Zam would even trust the player in dishonour among thieves.

Vampire quest
-buddy who fell through portal... what happened to him?
-Charos

Return of Zaros
-who J is?
-who the assassin is?
-Moia's mum?

Slug series
-the prince is said to be soon to be reborn or something like that...
-when's that little girl going to move out of that dungeon. It's been 6 - 7 years lol. Same with that dude with the broken cart in Monks assistant. Please move them lol

Underground pass
Hero dude who that lore story on the website was written about, would be nice to know where he ends up.


Olaf's quest
-Olaf's treasure map. I'm pretty sure at the end of the quest the dude gives us a map and says there's more treasure but it never really goes anywhere.

Shadow over Ashvale

Not sure if this is 5th age but I think there's more stories that need to be told here. I know that tutorial island quest had a dude making crassians but it was never specified if he is the origin of the race or he just likes turning peeps into them.

Love story
Really want to know why the troll mother is a squid...

Desert series
There's an npc who mentions he might be able to upgrade our granite gear, would make a neat mini quest.

The ghostly robes
Ghosts are still trapped in the shadow realm. Would be cool if something was done with them.

Will post more as I remember

(Really minor things)

-in some of the older quests random monster a are introduced just for bosses and the race never shows up again. For example the Roc in My arms adventure. Would be nice if these races were used more to cement them in the Rs world a bit better.

Very roughly from most to least important.

Gnomes
- What happened to Glouphrie and who is Glouck?
- Who killed Argento and why, and why did Glouphrie conceal it?
- The Khazard-Gnome War, initiated by Bolrie/Glouphrie, needs resolving.
- Glough needs to return to the series, and Caranock and Waydar should be arrested.
- How did Glough's wife die and does it have anything to do with his subsequent conduct?
- Laneel and the connection with the Red Axe need some mentioning.
- Ditto Glouron and the Iorwerths.
- Shipyard might need repurposing, and its workers are still close to revolt.
- Was the Saboteur from Arposandra? Is he connected to Karam?
- Is Glophren's name just coincidentally similar to Glouphrie's?
- Is Yewnock still around?
- Where the Zamorak did Glough get all those demons?
- Awowogei's new alliance with the northern monkeys could be relevant.
- Also, unrelated, but it'd be great if we could rewatch cutscenes from The Eyes & The Prisoner, similar to Bolrie's diary.

Elemental Workshop
- What are the fates of Vitruvius and Idiot?
- What is found in the depths of the workshop?

Druids' circles (yes I'm including it because, while horribly broken narratively, it still needs to be resolved)
- What is the nature of the purification ritual?

That's it really, but, er, Druidic Ritual might need some extra dialogue to once again serve as an introduction to the 'series', and of course Eadgar's Ruse needs a sequel. Bizarre Boron Fusswell, scryer extraordinaire. OSRS: POH ideas & RS3 minigames & achievement ideas !

- What's up with Bob and Robert, how does the reincarnation work, etc.
- How did Robert travel to Kethsi?
- Where is the Dragonkin Castle and how did Robert imprison them?
- What happened in year 30 of the Fourth Age, seeing that the Dragonkin Conflicts lasted much longer.
- Why were the Dragonkin released upon the Balance Elemental's death?
- What fate shall befall the Ilujanka?
- What is the Vault, and how did the Dragonkin get the mirror artefact?
- Did the Dragonkin or did they not sack Saranthium?
- Why was Kalibath 'interrogating' a White Knight about Saradomin's weakness? (well, because he wants to kill Saradomin, obviously, but I mean how is it relevant to the story)
- Did Etheron take the Stone of Jas from V7?
- The Dragonkin cameo'd in Sliske's Endgame and seemingly destroyed the Stone. Err...that might need addressing... I'd be fine with a retcon in this case, but I doubt that's happening.

Pirate
- What happened to Jack?
- How do the Cursed Archipelago and the underwater temple (of Xau-Tak?) relate to undeath? Ditto for the black slab on Mos Le'Harmless. Where is Jack's crew getting all the black stone from?
- Where are Mi-Gor and Murphy now?
- General information about the former horror civilisation.
- Xau-Tak, skeletal horror, etc.
- Obviously the pirate-Customs & Excise Office War needs resolving. Jack has lost his zomboat armada, but gained an army of crabs.
- What is the fate of the Leviathan?
- Undead bosun Giles please. Bizarre Boron Fusswell, scryer extraordinaire. OSRS: POH ideas & RS3 minigames & achievement ideas !
