I do want to add in here, on the note of Oreb potentially being Sliske's Master, a couple of details that I gathered from talking to Mod Osborne and Raven about him (Sliske's master) at Runefest after the Lore talk.
The first, and most obvious point is that Sliske's "master" is not such a black and white relationship. It is all but certain (and obviously fits his character) that he is only made himself subservient to his "master" to benefit himself in the long run. Combine this with the fact that we know his goal is to obtain a soul, and Oreb quickly becomes the leading choice at the moment. We can also make an assumptive leap to say that his master is not a god and is likely less powerful than Sliske as well, since it would make sense that a god would likely ask Sliske to hand over the Staff and Stone and he has not currently done that.
The second detail I got out of Mod Osborne was that the "master" is not something or someone we have seen before. Now, the only reference we had to Oreb at that point was through the books from the quest, but the interpretation I took of our conversation was that the master is "something" we haven't seen before. Which could imply a soul-sucking, Schism-using Magister from Teragard here to help Sliske get to Candyla - I mean the afterlife...
Anyways, obviously the source of this was from a private exchange, so I can't give concrete proof of these conversations, but I figured the comments they gave were made more interesting in the light of this new lore from the miniquest.
