Probably worth noting that there's an NPC called "cold spot" in the spot that the Sinister figure was.

Sinister figure's examine text notes that they are unusually cold...
You never were our brightest star, Khazard. 'Vermin slaughtered like lambs'? What does that even mean?

At the moment Oreb seems like one of the most likely candidates for Sliske's master. We know Sliske wants to save himself from oblivion, so it makes sense he'd contact someone with considerable knowledge of the subject. It also explains howSliske could have one of his books and knowledge of his theories. The fire warrior's presence in The Temple of Ikov might explain how he knew of the staff.

I hadn't watched the Lore Corner at the time I saw this post, but now that I see how Lesarkus is tied to the Magisters, I could see there being some connection. Raven's comment did indicate that the Magisters backstab each other, so maybe there was some hostility between Oreb and Magister of House Lesarkus? In a way, the Fire Warrior was actually protecting the Staff, so maybe Lesarkus. I could see Lesarkus finding the Staff useful, but he might be someone Armadyl would consider an ally.

Whatever the Big Game is, I believe it just be secondary to something the Magisters have in mind. A lot has been built around Saradomin in this story. Death of Chivalry is required, but I'm sure that's just because it was his Sixth Age quest. But then One of a Kind talks about Teragard, Kalibath from Hero's Welcome specifically wants to kill Saradomin, Kindred Spirits tested Saradominist faith, which Verac betrayed, and now Tales of Nomad makes it clear that Nomad has very good reason to hate Saradomin.

I hope that a lot of the Endgame ties up what's going on with Saradomin. So much of the story has been happening around him, but he's only had The World Wakes, The Battle of Lumbridge, and Death of Chivalry.

So Oreb retained his body, weaved a cape out of souls, was investigating Nomad's memories moments before we approached, and teleported off rather abruptly.

If that was Oreb in the flesh, he might have watched us during Elegy, and could have intervened for personal revenge.

The Magisters sound like tyrants, and one who experiments on souls sounds beyond 'evil'.
Whether Oreb saw our battle in person or through memories, I'm certain we have scared him off for the time being. However he witnessed us at full strength and may have plans for us.

Should we ever cross paths with Oreb, he will likely manipulate us into dispatching his rivals.
In the same way we have been used by Lucien and Vanescula to do the dirty work.

I don't think he did, actually. Remember, his skeleton is still at the ourania altar. I think it's more likely he stole another body, or possibly built one, by transfering his soul.

Hmmmm. What if his plan is to posess Saradomin himself? With his image and power he'd have supreme power over Terragard.

I have noticed your kind does tend to blindly stumble forward towards danger simply because it exists. What is your word for that?

I do want to add in here, on the note of Oreb potentially being Sliske's Master, a couple of details that I gathered from talking to Mod Osborne and Raven about him (Sliske's master) at Runefest after the Lore talk.

The first, and most obvious point is that Sliske's "master" is not such a black and white relationship. It is all but certain (and obviously fits his character) that he is only made himself subservient to his "master" to benefit himself in the long run. Combine this with the fact that we know his goal is to obtain a soul, and Oreb quickly becomes the leading choice at the moment. We can also make an assumptive leap to say that his master is not a god and is likely less powerful than Sliske as well, since it would make sense that a god would likely ask Sliske to hand over the Staff and Stone and he has not currently done that.

The second detail I got out of Mod Osborne was that the "master" is not something or someone we have seen before. Now, the only reference we had to Oreb at that point was through the books from the quest, but the interpretation I took of our conversation was that the master is "something" we haven't seen before. Which could imply a soul-sucking, Schism-using Magister from Teragard here to help Sliske get to Candyla - I mean the afterlife...

Anyways, obviously the source of this was from a private exchange, so I can't give concrete proof of these conversations, but I figured the comments they gave were made more interesting in the light of this new lore from the miniquest.

I thought Mod Raven said something along the lines that it wouldn't be a character they made up just for the role of Sliske's master? And in a podcast about Kindred Spirits, Osborne said something like they had been planning this since The World Wakes. So my guess of the master is someone we at least knew about before, during, or after The World Wakes, but they absolutely had to have been before Kindred Spirits. Oreb is just too recent. While he would make sense in some ways, he's just too sudden for my liking.

Saw the cape as well. I'm guessing it's the result of whatever Sliske did with Nomad.

After seeing him thanks to screenshots I suspect he's Oreb, His first master. (Was that his name?)

Funnily enough it looks like he has Mod Raven as his voice actor.

Technically one in the same :P

And Oreb is a reference to the old testament.
You will *never* guess what it means!

Could be the case, I'm just going off the brief conversation I had with them. It is also possible that in the midst of a very long day they were a bit out of it and didn't really pay attention to the question, lol. Just thought I'd leave what I heard out here for people to discuss.

So the question of who exactly Lesarkus is has been answered! And it's much more interesting than I thought it would be! It's clear the Magisters have a great interest in the Elder Artefacts. But what exactly do they plan to do with them? And just where does Saradomin fit? Does he approve of their actions, or have they completely betrayed him, perhaps trying to ascend to godhood themselves, with Sliske's help? Just imagine this scenario at the endgame:

Sliske: "And the Stone of Jas goes to... "
[dramatic pause]
Sliske: "...Oreb!"
Saradomin: "WHAT!?"
To those cursed by war and pest, Come into the light of Armadyl and rest. This is the law of Armadyl.

Well what if Oreb was made for more than just the role of Sliske's master? Maybe he'll have connections to our quests on Terragard?
Also, just because they've been PLANNING it since The World Wakes, doesn't mean we've KNOWN ABOUT THEM since The World Wakes, it means THEY knew..
