Snip.

Okay. Time out. Allow me to rephrase: Armadyl being gay/bi enhances his character and makes him, imo, a better one. Has nothing to do with conforming to his already existing characteristics.

And I think its a shame because I thought it was a nice little glitch people could use to get same-sex relationships with the prince/princess. Ironically, you lost that with Astrid when they updated it.

Aw really glad to see most people agreeing that Armadyl having a husband as being a good fit for his character!

When I read it for the first time, I remember thinking "Yeah, that makes sense!" It didn't shock me or surprise me, it just felt right for him.

:)

The Makeover Mage is technically Genderfluid, if you want to add that in.

Can we call the prince of Miscellania bi-curious? The princess is angry, insisting you change back immediately, but he just shrugs it off like "Well I liked you better as a woman, but I can deal with this. "

Oh? Did they finally fix that little flaw? Shame.

To the original post:
I don't see what the big deal is. Yes, he's gay or at least bi. So what? I don't mind Jagex including LGBT characters, especially for ones like Armadyl where is just makes sense. But I don't see a reason to get all giddy when this happens...

...Especially when some people make it into a borderline political issue.

Are you straight Ascertes? (you don't have to answer)

Well, I'm gay, so when a high profile character turns out to be gay, be it in a TV show a movie, book or in this case an online game- it makes me feel, included, accepted, normalised and gives me hope that one day sexuality won't be something that has to be a big deal you know?

I agree what you mean about people turning it into a political issue etc I don't agree with getting that serious, I'm just happy that one of the RS gods is not "straight" it makes me more able to relate and feel included :)

Well, I did sire a son...
His name is Safalaan. His mother is Efaritay, my wife.

And I'm not saying to not be happy, because I totally understand that the LGBT community can be marginalized quite a lot, I'm just saying it doesn't need to be turned into a huge thing and I don't quite understand why it often is, when such characters being included in TV/Games/etc. is pretty much expected. It's why I like how they did it with Armadyl: It's just stated as a matter-of-fact, no big deal thing. Like it's normal.

It's a videogame, IMO people should be able to romance whoever the heck they want.

No. The characters have the right to not to like whoever they want to. And if we were able to romance whever we want to, that would be weird

Won't lie, I stopped reading the posts after it shifted to personal attacks.

But either way, Armadyl having a husband and being outside expected norms (at least, how we view these norms, and perhaps Gielinor. We don't know how Aviansie culture is for that) is an excellent reaffirmation of his goals of equality for all and highlights that he's been an equal player since his early days.
