I've always wanted this one to be implemented in some manner. Even as a mini game it would be awesome.

nice you've hit a lot of points would be cool if jagex would take the time to put the extra in effort into a blog for this skill as they did with warding.... O_o

Take the idea of Dungeoneering & combine it with Sailing and call the skill Exploration??

They should add the basis for your sailing idea to its full extend that caters to each play style and level and then copy and paste over dungeoneering part as well and implement it together. As others have said call it explorering, just don't listen to all the spite voters or people that don't want to have to level. The game needs more hefty content because its bleeding players. There are only so many billions pvm'ers can have before they will get bored.
