It is my personal opinion that one should only be afraid of dying due to their own error. But what can Jagex do so that these issues do not cause an unfair death of the player? You must agree that these are lame unavoidable reasons to die. This is especially the case for instances where you will lose the items on death.
But we have the ring of life right? Well yes but if you're fighting a monster that can hit more than a 9, you are pretty much screwed.
Here is my proposal. It came to me today while chinning Maniacal Monkeys. It would be some kind of item, similar to the ring of life, that will teleport you to safety. But instead of it being based off your current HP, it would be based off your in game activity. You would toggle what time limit you would like it to be set to. If you go the set amount of time without any activity, you will be teleported to safety. It would be based off the same actions that keep you logged in such as sending a message, emotes, using an item, eating, activating prayer, etc. BUT, it would not include being in combat.
For example, say you toggle it to 60 seconds. After 50 seconds of inactivity , a message that cannot be interrupted by combat would appear over your chat box. It would say "Warning! You will be teleported in 10 seconds if you do not do an action." This would serve as a reminder so that a person is not accidentally teleported only to be inconvenienced.
Another option could be to add the ability to change the ring of life activation up to maybe 30%?
