I want players who are trying to make an ironman account to be able to easily do so and not accidentally create a normal account by mistake like I and others have done.
By the time the player realizes the ironman mode selection option is not given after teleporting away from tutorial island, it is too late to fix it since you can't choose ironman mode after teleporting away from tutorial island.
The NPCs for choosing ironman mode in the current OSRS tutorial are easy to miss, especially if the player doesn't know to even look for them, and because they are near the end of the tutorial when the player by that time may have forgot to look for them and the arrows never have them speak to them, or because they might think they are after the mage tutor and teleport not realizing they missed the chance to choose ironman mode until too late.
For this reason I suggest the following changes:
Make Ironman mode selection be at the beginning of account creation in OSRS as it in in RS3. Make it obvious and hard to miss.
Add a warning before teleporting to Lumbridge from tutorial island that ironman mode can not be selected after leaving tutorial island, so if anyone missed choosing it they know not to teleport yet.
Or add NPCs in Lumbridge for accounts to change to ironman mode if they have not gained any XP yet in case someone made a normal account by mistake when they wanted an ironman account, before they leave the initial spawn area. Maybe put them in a small building where the player character spawns and as the player opens the door give the player the option to choose ironman mode.
It is far better for a player to choose ironman mode by mistake then be able to change to normal mode, than to choose normal mode by mistake and not be able to change to ironman mode after if they made a normal account by mistake.
