Thanks Shadow. I think that fits best in with my advice regarding checking the trade window, staying informed, and the trading of identical items/claiming an item is more than what it's worth. You're welcome to keep it on your thread, however I won't be copying it over onto mine, as I've already basically covered it, only more generally.

Thanks again.

Dear Ice Crush,

This is a very nice post and guide to avoid scamming. I am a player from back in 2005 and I remember all of these scams and a lot of people fell for them. Thanks to your guide I am sure it will reduce the amount of successful scams and lower the amount of scammers as well.

Sincerely, Lavaswordman

I just fell for the brimhaven housing portal one.

Mostly because I had no idea about the poison. I kinda suspected he was trying to pull something from the start, but figured if anything hit me, I could easily get away.

Kept pulling the cancel trade/sorry lag move. Then when I was poisoned he tried to trade me to give food.

I managed to quickly get to the docks and take a ship elsewhere. Didn't manage to get to the bank in time. But hey, that's my own fault for at least not bringing food.

Anyway, I don't know what the expectations and rules are, here. But should I post his name?

Thanks, Arima. :)

Vizari, that's unfortunate. :/ Always be cautious of players that want to meet you at their houses. As for posting his name here, that violates the naming and shaming players rule, as there would be no proof, but rather, one persons word vs. another persons word. Best thing you can do is report the player in game for scamming.

I figured there would be some rule against it, which is why I asked before I gave a fair warning of that player.

I did report him. Hope something becomes of it so he can't try to scam anyone else.

It's too bad I didn't know about the poison, or I would have taken precautions. But, *bleep* happens. Doesn't really bother me. Good for someone else that managed to get my stuff. At least he didn't. :p
