Hi everyone. I never thought there would be a day I would participate in a game such as RuneScape, but I'm hooked after 3 weeks. I certainly didn't expect to become a member and haven't yet, but I did buy three bonds to give myself some $$ and time to assess the game. I'm 67 and have been around computers since '84. I was responsible for some of the code for games which were played on BBS's (Computer Bulletin Board Systems) prior to the internet being a spin off of our hard work.
I'm now 67 and my granddaughter and her boyfriend got me involved in OSRS - wow, I used the vernacular! Anyhow, I have a complaint and it really bugs the heck out of me to have to bring this to the attention of Jagex, so please, pay attention.
My granddaughter's boyfriend (PrinceGuay) was hacked for the third time and I was present last night when it happened. He logged out for about 5 minutes and returned only to find he was 40m short! He utilizes a bank pin to access his account too for added security. Here's the thing... as I said, this is the 3rd time he's been hacked and he's sent many messages to Jagex, but he's never been reimbursed. Could someone please explain clearly why he as well as many others aren't reimbursed after breaches in members' accounts? The last paragraph in locked post here says, and I quote, "If you see someone else being scammed by a scammer, go ahead and report them for encouraging rule breaking. That alone will at the least send a report and jagex can put 2 and 2 together from there." Was that statement made to make us feel secure within the process of the game?
I understand the ins and outs of based interactions within the structure of games as this and it's quite disturbing to see someone who supports the endeavors of the programmers of RuneScape get scammed and basically ignored. I had fully planned to purchase a yearly membership now that I'm locked in hook, line and sinker, but am reluctant now. Thanks in advance for any response.
