They're likely adbots, bots that advertise RWT Websites. The reason they're sending the messages with indecipherable symbols is because that's the only way they have left to try and communicate the site they're advertising, as most of the simpler ways have been censored. You're not in any danger, don't worry. Simply report and ignore them. You can also play with your private chat set to friends only which will prevent the adbots from PMing you.

So i have been on the forums for quite awhile, i am a pker and i have been selling tier 7s and tier 10s.

Someone pm-ed me saying that he wants to buy a tier 10, he says that he would pay after killing me with tier 10 on me, and all along the community has been really kind and nice and no1 tried scamming me yet. Till this guy came around and did just that, ran away with the tier 9 after i died, and acted as if i didnt lose had the emblem on me.

Wow some players are seriously so mean.

Please becareful of such players.

If someone tries to trade you an item, especially a newer item or something that has very little demand, beware that the Grand Exchange value may be overstated significantly. For instance, it will say an item is worth 10m when in reality, it's worth 500k due to the extremely low volume of trades. Someone I know has fallen victim to such a scam, believing he was being paid with an item the Grand Exchange claimed was worth 3 times what he traded away. When he finally sold it, he got a mere 20% of the value of the item he traded to the scammer.

In short, beware of rarely traded items with overstated Grand Exchange values and don't get greedy. You're just going to lose a lot of money with an item you'll end up selling at a massive loss, IF you even sell it!

On one note, thank goodness Ironmen don't have to worry about such scams since the whole no trading rule pretty much protects them from the bulk of item scams.
