Great guide, and one people should pay attention to on both ThenScape and NowScape. Still, I wonder how many people have been hacked already on ThenScape, simply because they logged on to that old, insecure server. I want to give the place a try (I wasn't around then, and I'm really curious to experience this Tutorial Island I hear so much about from the old-timers), but I think I'll wait until Jagex comes up with a secure client I can use.

Thanks to both of you, and Zuzu, I'm not entirely sure they're going to create a client for this game, atleast, not anytime soon. If you'd like to play it securely, I suggest setting up a good firewall on your computer, have a good pass.word, and set up JAG.

I appreciate the heads up....I had forgotten some of these. I am embarrassed to admit that I was victim to some of these scams when I was a young noob O_o

As long as you use common sense and question "if it's too good to be true"....you should do just fine. :)

Ice Crush, I honestly thought that would be enough to protect me until a friend of mine got hacked this morning. Been playing since '06 and never been hacked; has a good firewall, pass.words, Bank PIN, uses JAG, double-checked afterwards and confirmed that there are no viruses, keyloggers or malware on her system - all the things that, as a PMod, she always encouraged other players to do. 7 years without being hacked, and within a day of signing in to OldScape, she got hit. And of course, once you've been hacked, you're no longer a PMod (you're playing with an unsecure account). It certainly opened my eyes.

In the Q&A, it was stated that they hadn't got around to making a client for OldScape yet, but that they were planning on it. I just hope they do it sooner rather than later.
