When Carlyle Group is diversifying Jagex, of course they won't spend as much time and money in the current games soon. OSRS is already deeply diversified, of course it is going to feel the heat way more going forward.

A lot of things we have seen in OSRS the past few years probably won't get the resources and money to move forward soon. Seems like skillers are going to be really out of favor in OSRS.

Half the skills are afk, so you can do them randomly while you watch tv or other things :)

And that is certainly no bad thing. I do believe effort should be rewarded with better GP and XP which it generally is.

The bad thing is in a zero-sum game, the gain of non-combat players is the loss of combat players. OSRS doesn't seem to be able to gain any significant net payers (note: payers, not free loading players or even players who cost Jagex more money to acquire than they pay).

Making money is fun for some players, and OSRS is said to be happy to help them make money, but such fun will have to come from cannibalizing the others unfortunately. :(

When we see most resources are fumbling and tumbling, we know skilling is really undesirable now.

When we see cooked fish selling for higher prices than raw, we know few players are training skills for their own character progression.

When we see food like sharks and prayer/super restores selling for half of what they were 6 months ago, we know the new "bosses" are really crappy that nobody need much defense for them.

I can't remember specifics like that in the RS2 era since I was young, but I'd imagine cooked items sold for at least a slight profit back then too right? Especially when pking was popular I'd imagine a lot of players would have wanted to pay a small premium for the cooked product?

Super Restores will fluctuate based on the releases of different bosses, in general the prices will spike dramatically upon the release of a boss and then settle down. If you look at the GE history one can see this in action.

When skillers was relevant in the economy, players bought raw high and sold cooked low, especially after players could note items without NPCs.

There doesn't seem to be any fluctuation in super restore, prayer potions etc for the last 3 months or so. They have been nose diving, and why not when even trash mobs easily killed by bots are called bosses now and they drop all kinds of boss like loot including skilling resources?

Cooked fish should and almost always been worth more than raw fish. The reason is that cooked fish is a expendable, meaning that you only use it once. Contrast that to things like mining and smithing, where once you make a set of armor, you do not need to make that type of armor again since it is rarely if ever destroyed without deliberately doing so. As long as you have people doing pvp and pvm without making their own food, the prices will always be higher for the cooked.

A good example for a mix is herblore. Due to how many you need to make, low level pots are always cheaper than the herb or secondary. On the flip side, due to people being lazy (not an insult, just a statement of fact), and due to the massive percentage of the exp. coming from adding the secondary, the unfinished are almost always more valuable than the herbs. Of course, due to supply and demand, this means the finished pots are worth less than the unfinished ones.

Jagex decided a long time ago, they did not want people that played the game for skills. They have gradually moved to where the game is all fighting. They are not there yet, but its nearer than the horizon.

No, most people did not do that with cooking. A long time ago (in osrs time), I got an alt to 99 on cooking by buying raw items, cooking them, and selling them for a profit. Yes, there were some low level food that lost value, but that was due to little demand for them compared to the supply.

To be honest, I never sold or bought fish when they were being certed, but that largely due to how hard it was to note thing. IF you were actually doing skills, fishing your items were better since you got both fishing and cooking. The one problem was those low level fish healed so few exps so they were hardly worth buying. Add that there was so many things to cook and people usually just threw away the raw fish.

I do remember doing smithing during the cert era. Someone wanted to sell me certed coal, but he was wanting more than I could get for the steel items I wanted to make. He said I was part of what was ruining rs. I asked how and he said skillers were in the game just to make the real players (merchants) money. We should not want to make money too.

How so? The GE price histories of cooked and raw sharks years ago when skilling was desirable don't seem to agree with you.

Potions are "expendable. meaning you only use them once", but why are most finished potions cheaper than the cost of the herbs and secondary required to make them?
