I wholeheartedly agree that every item available from the store (or the currency used for them) should also be attainable via means within the game world. In principle, that seems like it would be the obvious choice and the right thing to do, and it may very well happen in the future for all I know. Perhaps new items could be added to the Store in waves, with older items then becoming available from in game means upon release of the new.
Take TF2 for instance, the king of war themed hat simulators. Infamous for it's 180-million-plus trading market (and that figure is from years ago!,) mostly based upon purely cosmetic hats. When new hats are added to the game they are invariably added to the Mann Co. Store (akin to Soloman's Store in that it operates in real world currencies in exchange for digital items,) and those who want those fancy new hats are more than welcome to buy them right away. Those with a little more patience simply wait until they can barter for it with their in game items, or get it as a drop/reward from the games various internal systems.
Maybe it's silly to even bring up, with TF2 being a completely different game of a different genre (It's a FPS for those who don't know) with a quite different system of trading and economy, but in the end this discussion is about people paying for pixels... it can't be completely irrelevant.
And yes, I've been playing off and on since the very beginning. I've seen a lot of things come and go on RS, though I can safely say far more has changed in the past year or so than has at any one point other than the release of the RS2 Beta. The amount of change is startling even to me. Some times it seems like a bit much. As with all, I suppose time will tell.
Holy poo jagex. No one will play your game if you don't release items to people who pay for membership and instead only make items that gold diggers can afford. Disappointing.
I like solomons. I don't mind them selling bankspaces, because it's not that big of a thing.. But the pets thing is a little ridiculous, and goes against "nothing that will give advantages"...
Although, I wouldn't be as upset if they would have gone ahead and made it a loyalty thing, because that hasn't had any excitement in forever.
Just because it isn't useful doesn't mean that it isn't an advantage. People with 1 summoning can now mimic an ability only available to pack yaks and other familiars.
Bump.
