They are cosmetic items... Saying "WELL MAYBE THEY MIGHT GET ENCOURAGED TO SELL WORSE STUFF IF WE BUY THIS STUFF" is complete conjecture and you have no solid ground for saying or believing that.
You should be ****** off if these items gave me an advantage in game when i bought them, not for just looking cool.
Please think this through.
Edit: Another thing, you can only speak for yourself, not others. So don't say that "WELL SOME PEOPLE CARE ABOUT HOW THEY LOOK" because I am positive there are people who run around in bare clothes because they cbf to get something 'nice' on (me being one of them). Only speak for yourself.

I think you have a point here because even the monthly membership fee could be considered an RWT or MT (whichever phrase you prefer).
However, without some source of funding, this game might cease to exist, so perhaps these new features are an attempt to balance the books so that they may continue to develop great game content.
Further, I share with you the hope that all these cosmetic bells and whistles do not trump the development of great quality quests, skills, etc.
Let's hope that these new funds will fuel the development of superior game content for everyone. :)

Actually, when Jagex put out buyable spins, I'm pretty sure they were encouraged to do more RWT/Microtransactions after people startedbuying mass amounts of spins.
EXP lamps are not cosmetic. It only goes gets worse from here.
