I’ve dipped in and out of this game over the years with huge breaks, but when I do come back, I’m immensely proud to show off my 2003 Halloween scythe. I’ve spent money to keepsake it so I can use it as an override. It isn’t some random item that can’t be equipped that’s lying in my bank gathering dust. And they’ve released a lot of other cool looking scythes too. But this baby is all mine. Is it selfish? Well RuneScape is a game about time and achievement. It’s reflective in the way people treasure Zezima and first to 99 and even basic skilling. There’s a reason why there are rewards for those things. Is it an achievement just to have played in a certain era? Maybe it is, and maybe it isn’t. If it is, then my scythe shows I played then and it should remain exclusive. If it isn’t, then why’d you want to collect it anyway?
It’s a video game but people are proud of what they do and have in video games. We don’t give out free GP or EXP for all the people who can’t play as much as they like. Why should we give out the one or two items people got for playing during a certain time?
You can’t have my scythe, and you can’t buy it and that’s kind of why I love it. I got it as a kid and I don’t think it’s selfish that I get to enjoy having this special item
