We all might as well call the game "GaiaScape" now, because this is exactly what Gaia online does.
(I just bought a $10 card the other day, so I'm not going to buy another one just to get the mask. that's not what i have a problem with though...)
It seems like jagex has made runescape just like every other online game. You can spend real cash on game items; Buy spins, buy RS coins, stack up your loyalty points by renewing memberships, etc. Where will Jagex draw the line of "real world item trading?" At this rate, it seems like they won't draw one at all. Next thing you know, we will all have a second coin pouch for real money which can be substituted for game coins at any time... -.-
I am very disappointed in jagex.
What happened to achieving things by actually playing the game... Offering all of these upgrades and rewards for real money produces "lazy" (un-interested actually) players. Instead of players spending time "working" (playing actually) towards a goal, like becoming rich or getting a high level, they can just spend real money to half-way achieve these goals. (I am glad, however, that they changed the huge xp lamps into material crates.)
ALSO (sort of related)
If all people want in runescape is high levels and lots of money, they are highly tempted to bot. If they do not enjoy actually playing the game to reach those goals, then runescape will loose interest of the players.
I will acknowledge that new activities and things have been added to runescape to help bring 99s and money out of the focus of runescape. Jagex created dungeoneering, revamped PVM bosses, added more minigames, etc. All to draw people away from focusing only on money and 99s
I think that's all i have to say...
