I love it! I much prefer it to the flaming skull which I bought with the last promotion. I am going to call to GAME tomorrow and pick up a card!.. For those of you that are on recurring membership and complaining.. Just quit the crying and go buy a card. That's 3 months of direct debits that won't be taken out of your account for you to go spend that money on somewhere else.. You're not technically paying more.. You're just paying the money 'up-front' as it were.. It's more than worth it as well, you get an awesome cosmetic item! :-D
My precious?

Jagex please hear me out, many of us players are disappointed and I think that you should hear us out once and for all and take what I'm about to say into consideration. This game has dramatically changed over the years and is ruining. Why must we pay for membership cards to recieve special holiday items such as this Halloween mask? It seems as if we have to pay real life money for almost everything for this game now like Solomons General Store, Squeal of Fortune spins, etc. etc. The Squeal of Fortune is pretty much real world trading. Paying real life money for coins and exp. in a game. It's pretty much a scam luring people into paying for this. You include prizes such as 200m and expensive armour just to get people to pay for spins, when in reality no one hardly actually wins. I hope you can understand the point I'm trying to get across. The game is nothing like it use to be.
( I got this mask out of luck, I just so happened to be out in town when I stopped by GameStop and picked up a membership card because it ran out, I didn't even know about this mask reward -.- )
- Sincerly, nick lost

We all might as well call the game "GaiaScape" now, because this is exactly what Gaia online does.
(I just bought a $10 card the other day, so I'm not going to buy another one just to get the mask. that's not what i have a problem with though...)
It seems like jagex has made runescape just like every other online game. You can spend real cash on game items; Buy spins, buy RS coins, stack up your loyalty points by renewing memberships, etc. Where will Jagex draw the line of "real world item trading?" At this rate, it seems like they won't draw one at all. Next thing you know, we will all have a second coin pouch for real money which can be substituted for game coins at any time... -.-
I am very disappointed in jagex.
What happened to achieving things by actually playing the game... Offering all of these upgrades and rewards for real money produces "lazy" (un-interested actually) players. Instead of players spending time "working" (playing actually) towards a goal, like becoming rich or getting a high level, they can just spend real money to half-way achieve these goals. (I am glad, however, that they changed the huge xp lamps into material crates.)
ALSO (sort of related)
If all people want in runescape is high levels and lots of money, they are highly tempted to bot. If they do not enjoy actually playing the game to reach those goals, then runescape will loose interest of the players.
I will acknowledge that new activities and things have been added to runescape to help bring 99s and money out of the focus of runescape. Jagex created dungeoneering, revamped PVM bosses, added more minigames, etc. All to draw people away from focusing only on money and 99s
I think that's all i have to say...

Cupcake Lady,
I believe you are missing our point.
We shouldn't have to pay for holiday items. Also, what happens if there is a reward for buying a membership during christmas? a lot of players will still have a month or more of membership when christmas comes.
"just quit your crying and buy a card" - (this is what greedy people want you to think)
So are you implying that spending real money on a holiday item is more masculine/manly than spending time doing a mini-quest to obtain the holiday item (as it has always been)?

I don't like the direction that this game is taking. Seems everything is available if you have the [real] money. Whether it be an outright purchase of this mask or more bank slots or even EXP. Between Solomon's store and SOF almost everything is for sale. All you have to do is spend the money and buy enough tokens.
This game is going downhill in the name of money. It takes the fun and challenge out of actually trying to "earn" the item or experience.
And of course, like with everything in life, the loyal customers who have recurring memberships and have been loyal for years are the ones that get ignored and screwed.
Very disappointed.
