The fact that this isn't going to be given to recurring members is nothing less than ridiculous. What a way to thank the loyal subscribers. This annoys me, reallllllyyyyy bad.

OK, so I've read pages and pages of forum of recurring members who have not read the FAQ on this, so I copied what the FAQ says about how recurring members can get this mask:
"I’d love to grab a Scarecrow Mask, but I don’t want to cancel my recurring subscription.
There’s no need to cancel your existing subscription. Simply redeem the card to top up your membership and it will be added to your current total of members’ credit.
You won’t be charged again until all but 3 days of the game card membership has elapsed, at which point your subscription’s fund source will be re-billed as normal. "
Now I hope that stops the complaining.

1. not everyone can get the card.
2. not everyone can afford to buy an extra 3 months on a whim....
3. 90% of us already subbed for over 20 months so why shouldn't we get it?
a friend of mine bought the skull katana and mask now and he's got over a year worth of subscription stockpiled and he doesn't like it because he's afraid he wont remember to re sub when it runs out so instead he's still paying month to month basically a waste of money because sooo many days piled up.

Jagex is just making it were you basically pay for xp., money, and in game items. I guess so that way you will max out everything then you lose all intrest in the game because you complete it, without even trying. This game has become way like all other games. I played this game years ago then quit to play other games. I came back to this game thinking that it wouldn't be like all the others but now it's changed to be just like the others. You have to pay for everything now. The graphical updates are VERY DISSAPOINTING to me also. The armour before looked perfectly fine, why did it get changed? I also loved the look of the God Swords but they changed, and now look like all the other typical RPG games weapons. This game was unique with it's own different style, now it has changed to look like all the others :( . I can't get across how dissapointed in how I am about this game. This was a great game before. Jagex please listen to what your customers want, because we PAY to PLAY. What ever happened to being against real world trading? - This game is full of real world trading now. We have to pay for almost everything for the game now. The holiday rewards should be like they were in the past, do fun events and get a reward, not pay for holiday events. - R.I.P Runescape :(

Every business is entitled to make a profit. With the economy down, many folks give up their pleasures for necessities, so Jagex loses them. They have to make up the loss somehow and if making it possible to purchase cute items and little extras that the remaining subscribers want, then that is what they do.
In their defense, I have to say that they are allowed to engage in real world trading because they hold the patents and data to their game; you don't. That's why you can't do it.
They still give us a LOT of free stuff. Don't be mad because you can't get all the goodies for free.

^ once again missing the point Jagex has waged war on RW trading for years and taken a solid stand that under no circumstances would it be acceptable only in the last year gone against all of that. I don't even like cosmetic items but its the principle that one type of player is getting options to obtain things and not all players either have the option or may end up actually paying more to obtain it. Like I said before if they came out with an item that only CC players could obtain that forum I dare say would be twce as big as this one with all of you complaining that it was unfair. Bottom line for me is when a business continues to go against everything that they stand for in the search for the all mighty dollar then I tend to shy away from it. Your right this is pleasure as far as anyone paying for this in an economy that sucks on so many levels which is one more reason that Jagex should think twice before they make any cross section of players in this game upset.

Mm, pausing recurring membership or not, I live in the arse end of England, with NO game shops selling these cards.
Been a member on and off for well over 6 years now, but i'm unable to get a card. Guess I don't qualify for a Loyalty Reward. :/

Wouldn't it be more logical to give these items as rewards to people who have been members from say, Oct 1st to Jan 1st?
Obviously not :l

Mistake #1: announcing time -> not much warning to stop people from using a card only a couple days before start date.
Mistake #2: making the reward appear to be a holiday item.
Mistake #3: not adding an extra options such as: "If you have X number of membership days already on your account, you will still receive the mask."
Mistake #4: RWT *
* You can make an argument that buying a membership can lead to RWT because it grants the ability to obtain members items. HOWEVER, you still have to play the game to obtain the item. With this mask example, though, you receive the mask as soon as you activate your card. No gameplay required.
