It was a nice idea to promote their cards but they did not make the option available for everybody to be included by making it so you can buy physical cards or order them online. I'm too poor to travel an hour to the nearest store to get the card that they may or may not have, I would rather buy it online if it were available. Ultimately though I would like something for just being a paying member over the month that the promotion was running.

Before I say anything about this event I would like to compliment the Mods on there swiftness in replying to the members on the forums and how they take what we say into consideration. When I stopped playing RuneScape in 2008 the Mods seemed very distant from the RuneScape community. So well done guys! Makes me glad that I've come back.
The idea of purchasing a tangible card to earn in game content is bizarre to me. As a member who started five days ago since he quit in 2008 I've never heard such a thing from Jagex. Although I understand and support your decision to attempt to earn money for the company, I believe these actions will backfire in the long run. As I'm sure you can tell from the posts on this thread, your member base, who is also you source of capital income is slightly upset with your decision. I believe it would be more beneficial to reward your veteran players, who have had recurring monthly memberships for a while. Those players with the recurring membership are a near guaranteed source of income and should be rewarded for their loyalty. I am aware of the new loyalty program but anyone who has an understanding of psychology knows that any negative perception of an event significantly outweighs "good" events when it come to memory. I encourage the Mods of this thread to emphasize to the development and marketing teams, that holiday rewards should be awarded to recurring memberships, and veteran members who have been apart of this great game for so long!
I have addressed the issue and explained why I feel that way and gave some vague solutions, but I will give you a specific solution for you all to think about. Lets say in addition to the scarecrow mask of october the developers ALSO release a holiday event SOLE* for the veteran members of 6 months, 12 months, etc. I think this approach would help push for long term members in addition to the loyalty program! I have more ideas but am running out of characters but would love to further discuss!
