Ineh, you mean like random emotes and holiday emotes and clan (If you leave) emotes? You could miss out on those...
But really, I think it's totally fair that if you don't take advantage you don't get it. Not putting the effort in shouldn't be rewarded, you lose nothing if the emote is greyed out, and having unique emotes every time means we'll be seeing new emotes in the future from Jagex, not just recycled old content.

Hey, just thought I would give thanks for having not mentioned the squeal of fortune or solomons general store for a week.
And the time between sof/solomons store updates has been about 2 weeks.
Thank you for decreasing advertisement/promotions for these events.

Aw I'll miss summer =/
I got some great items though, but I don't have the sunbath emote....yet =D
But I got an idea, why don't you (Jagex) bring back these items every summer?
I realy want to get all the emotes and if I don't get sunbath one I will be sad =P
So if we can have more chances of getting it, that would be great! I realy don't want to live with the thought that I won't be able to get that emote ever again!
Anyways thanks for the items Jagex =)
