"We place immense value in our - and your - game's integrity, feedback from our community, and continually improving the game experience for all, and we have a strong track record of making decisions in this area that we know may be sub-optimal, commercially speaking, but represent our values. For example, we know that directly selling gold, XP or even accounts would generate between 10 to 15 times more revenue than Squeal or Solomon’s Store generates combined. However, we simply won’t do it, because we don’t believe it’s the right thing for the long-term health of the game."

We should we belive in you? Jagex has lost it's credits, look at the previous rwt rule:
"We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. We feel your status in real-life shouldn't affect your ability to be successful in RuneScape."

Well, now players can buy their "way to success". Soon they will be able to buy direct XP/GP and even accounts, no doubts.

My problem isn't with the update, it's with two side points.
The first is that every week, we have SoF or Solomons Shop news crammed down our throat. I understand you want to get the information out there, but is it necessary to have a post, a reminder post, a last day reminder post, an in-game banner that shows up every 5 days (or every day by default) and an entire tab dedicated to it? It's a bit much, and it feels force-fed.
An update post, MAYBE two a month would suffice. I could even understand an in-game banner for particularly rare or special events, like limited time squeel bonuses. But most of us use the Squeel of Fortune every day to use up our free spins, so we're already aware of the promotions; we dont need 2+ reminders every week. I like to be informed, not flooded and overwhelmed with repeat or drastically similar information.
My second concern is that I feel decieved. We are given statements such as "Money will never impact in-game status" and then have real-money transactions implemented. We are told "The shop is cosmetic-only and provides no benefit" when 2 months later, bank space is released (which does allow for more crafting and gathering opportunities simultaniously; I have to clear out much-needed items if I want to, say, level crafting). I wish you would make a statement, either "We are implementing a shop with some minor in-game benefits" or "We will never allow real world wealth to impact the game" and stick with it. I really dont mind a microtransaction shop in a game I've known and loved since 2002. But I do mind feeling lied to or decieved.
Im not really looking for feedback or a response, but I want to voice my oppinion that it's not just the shops themselves that are the problem, but the handling of information lately that some of us are concerned with.
Tiles. Give them a use!

Thanks MMG!
Great post.. I know many players don't understand why you introduced SoF and Solomon's, but I understand it's hard to ban so many bot account who pay for memberships without wanting something in return. I just know the people who are still against micro payments have just never been confronted with the way the markets work in this world and it's good to have you explaining it.
I really think the Solomon's store is a brilliant idea and it really adds to the game as well, it's fun to see every character having different animations and outfits rather than everybody looking the same.
SoF does worry me a little.. granted: it's a great way of earning some extra revenue. But it's also a great tool for botters and unfair players in general to boost their account using stolen credit cards and such. It also worries me that it is so easy to give out such great sums of money, especially knowing the player base contains a lot of minors.
All in all thanks for the post and I hope the game can go on for decades to come, whatever is necessary!

This post didn't answer to or even feature the feedback you say you've taken into consideration.
The vast majority of RuneScape players right now hate the Squeal of Fortune, including me. The reason for this is because, even though in this post you mentioned how the Jagex team absolutely will not directly sell money and XP to players, you might as well be doing that because you're doing it indirectly through the Squeal Of Fortune and it's ruining the overall gameplay for those players who want to earn their xp and their cash legitimately and without simply going out and doing an extra shift at your job to buy some spins for free stuff (which by the way, is what a lot of people opt into doing because it's just as efficient if not more efficient than doing it yourself).
All I'm saying here is that S.o.F is a horrible, atrocious and terrible feature of the game which should be either removed entirely (which would be the prefered option by a mile) or nerfed by taking out XP and cash rewards.

I am trying to like this game still, I really am. I cannot help but feel that this 'Address' by Gerhard is just happening because JaGeX is feeling they, 'took it a step too far', with the Solomon's update. (Basically by blatantly lying about what would be included on it). All I see are defenses for your actions that cannot be justified if you were to just keep pushing out great updates like you did a few years ago. Now, it seems that the concentration is on Squeal and Solomon, and not actual content.
