Okay, while it IS reassuring to know that there are some lines that Jagex will not cross, rumor DOES have it that Jagex has been fighting with certain investors blamed for the decline of certain other games such as Maplestory to keep micro-payments from going out of hand the way they have in those other games.
Personally, I'm still opposed to having buyable spins in the Squeal of Fortune, as that turns SOF into gambling for pixels with real-world money. At least in casinos, you're betting money that you'll win more real-world money than you started with. But here, you're betting money that you'll win some pixellated item that doesn't really exist after only spending a small amount of real-world money. And when you lose, it only encourages you to spend more real-world money. And more ... and more ... and by the time you finally win what you desire, it's cost you a LOT financially.
Squeal of Fortune's buyable spins make it gambling. And that, I am afraid, is not acceptable. I have never spent any money on spins, and never will. But for me, it's not the money -- it's the principle of the thing. Betting real-world money on the chance of winning pixels should NOT be encouraged.
