"For example, we know that directly selling gold, XP or even accounts would generate between 10 to 15 times more revenue than Squeal or Solomon’s Store generates combined."
But you are selling gold and xp on Squeal of Fortune. That's the problem. What's the difference between selling spins (which give you gold and xp), and selling gold and xp directly? None if you ask me.
I have no problem with having a spin game, but there should be no gold or xp lamps on it. And certainly not untradeable versions of some of the most powerful items in the game like godswords and spirit shields.
If you want to have microtransactions, fine. But please limit them to untradeable cosmetic items and auras and titles and bank space and basically anything that doesn't give a real advantage in the game.
If you're not going to do that, you may as well just sell gold and xp directly, because that's precisely what you are doing when you sell SOF spins.

I just logged in to call ******** on this post.
MMG seems to think that, by offering a probability system of selling gold and XP which ultimately generates a reliable amount of both over a large enough number of uses instead of what he refers to as a "direct" sale, that he has preserved the values that Jagex has upheld for the previous ten years.
If that were true, I'd still be a paying member. Just because you don't call it direct doesn't change the fact that it is. And while you may think you're controlling the effects of your microtransactions on the game, they still ruin it for players like myself.
I've seen one bit of good news recently, and that was the potential for reviving f2p highscores - but I'll believe that one when I see it.
Everything else is negative - the SoF, the SGS, the ingame membership promotions... all are the opposite of what I want to see in this game.
I suppose there's some irony in the fact that, if Jagex hadn't started all of this ********, they'd have had my membership payment for August and September, anyway.

Mod Mark didn't write his post, i believe IVP did and here are my reasons why below each quote from the post:

" We really appreciate the support and trust you have put in us over the last 5 years. Please know that - although some of our decisions are not necessarily popular - they are 100% driven by the aim of building the strongest possible future for RuneScape."
5 years is the amount of time IVP have been investing. Rs has been around 11 years!
and
"Equally, many of you will know our past initiatives against botting and gold farming cost us millions of players, and certainly tens of millions of dollars."
If Mod Mark wrote this, it would be in Uk Pounds. IVP is an american company so US dollars it is.
Don't click the spoiler below.

I for one, despite popular topic, enjoy and appreciate the innovations that Jagex is incorporating. It is understandable that people get frustrated with having to purchase very unique items and services but let's face it, Jagex as a company and family has many workers. Not only do they have to pay their employees but their equipment and tools for use in Runescape's progression as well. Atleast the Squeal of Fortune gives you free items every day. It's your choice whether or not you decide to additionally purcahse more spins or purchase in-game merchandise from Solomon. If you do Jagex appreciates your patronage, if not, they still appreciate the loyalty of paying membership and playing or even playing freely.
Sincerely,
Serps (Steven) :P

Remove Squeal, Remove Beta, Remove Solomon's and bring the game back to its former greatness, which in my opinion is 2004-2006 and to an extent 2011 after the bot nuke. There are riots against these updates that players are organising on YouTube, in friends chats etc. If this is happening then surely JaGeX can see that they are doing something wrong. Thousands of players I know have the same opinion as me. Save the game while you still have a chance. Please Listen to the community.

I would be hard pressed to find a company with less integrity than Jagex. Time and time again you lie, deceive and go back on your word. Then again, with the way things are in this day an age, it's no wonder that a company as dishonest as this one is successful.
Players CAN buy experience, gold and items. End of discussion. I'm also sick to death of your so called "devoted team" dreaming and conjuring updates that no one asked for and that no one wanted.
The bottom line is, that whatever makes you the most cash is the choice you're going to make. You all simply don't care what your long time customers or player base thinks. And, do you know what? That's FINE. That's absolutely FINE!
Just have the courage to admit it. Otherwise, you're nothing but cowards and liars.

Mods, I understand you need money to run this game. I also understand that that money can come from Micro transactions but, you should make the Squeal Of Fortune.. like the Solomon Store and make it cosmetic.
Also are you going to announce when RuneFest is? Knowing would be nice.

They can ban me all they like - I don't play this account anymore, and I have others capable of posting. A ban will not silence me, nor does it threaten me. It wouldn't be ideal, as I would be more then happy to return to a Runescape free of unequitable microtransactions should that day ever come, but it also wouldn't be a terrible loss... I think the last time I logged into the game was over two months ago.
Then again, I'm barely bothered to log in to the forums any more, so silencing me would be a pretty useless choice for them anyway - I've gone all but silent on my own, because nothing I post changes anything, and I've lost almost all interest in this game as it now stands.
