I do appreciate this message, and it does somewhat allay my fears. However, I continue to believe that features like the Squeal of Fortune and Solomon's Store undermine the moral authority of Jagex in combating real world trading and botting. The message says that xp and gp will never be for sale, but both are extremely frequent on SoF. It matters little to me that few accounts are using the Squeal for these purposes. Prior to these updates, real world money could only legitimately buy membership; all members were equal. This is no longer the case. Up for sale are more bank space, powerful weapons (most egregiously the auspicious katana), xp lamps, and coins.
Furthermore, when Mod MMG promises that our worse fears won't come true, I cannot trust that promise. The same promises were made about microtransactions never being used in RuneScape. I do trust that Jagex values its reputation too much to greatly harm the game. This will prevent the worst fears from coming true. But, I cannot trust that we will never see Solomon selling gold, xp lamps, or hard to obtain items. These things would could occur with the same justifications, the same promises, and the same amnesia of past declarations that we are seeing now.
Only by modifying the Squeal of Fortune and Solomon to be less intrusive and of minimal impact, not just to the game as a whole but also to each individual account; only by removal of overly enticing prizes (such as 200M gp or more bank space); only by the admission that at least certain aspects of the design and promotion of the Squeal of Fortune and Solomon's Store were bad for the game and thus failures in judgement, can these promises be trusted.
Unless Jagex has learned something from this experience, and publicly admits that, there is little reason to believe that this post will be ignored as soon as it is inconvenient.
