:O I knew some of these people on the forums; thought I smelt a troll.
(I recently received my Ph.D (99) in Smithing, which gives players the ability to smelt trolls. But don't tell anyone it was a forged degree.)
Anyway, good work, Jagex! This issue has shown us all that some of the most well-respected people in the game can still succumb to temptation when cases like this arise. A (very small) part of me feels sympathy for them, and wishes they could correct their mistakes and move on, but the vast majority of me praises the holy ban-hammer and the swift manner in which this bug has been resolved.
Give yourselves pats on the backs and loads and loads of cookies while I think up more bad Smithing puns.

Thanks for all the messages of support so far on this thread.
A few people have mentioned bots and this would be a good time to assure everyone that we are still working on that issue, we will always be on the side of the genuine player and we dedicate a lot of resource here at the studio to specifically deal with cheating.

Bravo, Jagex. I love seeing bug abusers and cheaters banned, and when it involves a glitch of this magnitude, I'm really happy to see that you've taken severe action against these players. It's really encouraging to see that you still have that same policy against bug abusers as you once did.

There are many people openly selling gold (for real money) possibly gained from using this glitch. With such strong links to gambling clans will Jagex be investigating this also? It would be nice to get a mass ban of people gambling especially as it has such seedy links with a criminal underworld of laundering (real money) and tax evasion.

Let this be a lesson to ALL who think they can go about the game the easy way by abusing the system, cheating or scamming off their fellow players, while everyone else struggles to get ahead legitimately.
