I Believe a members "strike could do something" maybe like..... everyone just lets their members die out and everyone is f2p until they downgrade SoF and SGS and upgrade the content we really want.
Jagex YOU ARE STUPID FOR THIS. Don't you think an investment company that wants our money would put updates towards maybe the stuff players want? Not this ********!

Hi I have a question my membership ends august 8th and paypal is not letting me add another membership until it expires, well I still receive the xp and rewards? Ive tried contacting you guys on facebook and twitter with no reply's this negligence to the community well be your downfall. I have read at least 10 other posts asking this same question a response from a mod would be greatly appreciated!

I almost feel I have to assume that enough people are using SoF and SGS to make the bad PR worth it. Otherwise, Jagex probably wouldn't keep updating it.
So what if we do something to strike back? Maybe members who are angry about all this can let their membership slip on purpose to negate the Sizzling Summer promo. I know I will.

There has been one thing that has set Runescape apart from the rest of the MMOs aren't there that has been consistent for 10 years. Weekly updates. Actual game content updates. Sometimes there were lapses for big updates or small updates that hinted at new quests or areas, but the updates always were about actual parts of the game. But now this update is a scary harbinger of what is yet to come. This update has nothing to do with in-game content, but just the microtransaction stores (which lore-wise don't fit into the world of Gielnor at all). The first microtransaction-exclusive items that give meaningful stats and nothing for players who don't have luck or money to spend on these microtransactions (and I include myself in the group that would never buy SoF spins).
My 10 year Runescape anniversary is in less than 3 weeks and these kind of meaningless updates make me fear for the games future. I remember when I first got my quest cape, I could hardly keep up with the requirements of new quests as they came out fairly regularly. There used to be a new quest every month (or 2 in a month to make up for no quest in a month), and now there have only been 5 (soon to be 6) and only 2 (hopefully soon to be 6) give a desirable reward (Char fm training, Fight Kiln access).
Fitting this update in with an actual game update would get you a lot less ire because it means you're still thinking of us lowly players who only pay subscription, not for microtransactions. As it stands, it looks like the investors have complete control and the players (vocal minority and apathetic majority) are left with nothing of value.

I don't understand why so many people rage on the forums whenever there is a post about the Squeal of Fortune or Solomon's Store.
I've received my 3 spins from the Squeal today, earnt one by completing Troll invasion and 2 more whilst doing slayer tasks. I haven't bought any, and love the anticipation of the Squeal of Fortune.
I used my free Runecoins in Solomon's store, and love the emote I got from that. There are a huge number of players who have purchased the runecoins and are enjoying their emotes, outfits and teleports.
Surely it's a personal choice whether you choose to purchase these things, and no other person has the right to dictate to any other whether or not they should do so.
I feel there is a good balance between the Behind the Scenes planned content and the posts about the Squeal and Solomon's store, but some appear to forget all the great content released this year, like the graphic update and improvements to Temple trekking for instance, choosing only to concentrate on hating what is a very small part of the game.

Clearly, by the overwhelming comments in this thread, every other thread and the opinions shared over youtube, we simple do NOT want any Squeal of Fortune / Soloman's General Store updates!
Why do you persist to throw these useless changes at us, when all we are screaming for is actual content!
I understand that the company has been bought by businessmen, and i'm sure it is they who are pushing for these changes. To you, businessmen: The contention of the RuneScape player-base is that Squeal of Fortune is absolute crap, and totally contradicts Jagex's nature as it is essentially RealWorldTrading. I understand that, naturally, you're in it for the money... but think long term! If this junk keeps coming, the player-base, as some have already, will get sick and tired of it... and simply quit.
I'm sure you're smart enough to understand that players quitting means less revenue.
That is all.
