Someone is Salty about Treasure Hunter. Lets do some basic math about Jagax, shall we?
A premier membership is 80USD/yr.
Runescape in the last 30 days has 1.5m players. lets say 800k of them are actively paying members, even though that number is not likely correct considering bonds exist, and many of these accounts are very old and have untold amounts of wealth.
800k*80=64 million. 64 million in a business world doesnt go very far, considering Jagax has servers in every major country, along with an office building, and complete staff. Most successful businesses use 50-60% of revenue at a minimum on salary for its staff, leaving at best an operational budget of 32 million for the year. Servers alone could eat through that, and we havent even touched employee benefit programs yet, such as what percentage of insurance Jagax covers for its employees, sick and vacation time, maternity/paternity leaves, so on and so forth.
Treasure hunter doesnt even normally have high end worth while items inside of it, instead normally being filled with exp boosts of varying sorts, be it lamps, stars, or protean items. Yes, treasure hunter does occasionally have bonuses that can earn a player 50m on the high end, and 50m isnt a small amount of money by any means, it'll easily equip a mid game player with 3-5 good sets of armor and weapons depend on the route they go.
At the end of the day, treasure hunter isnt a problem. not even close. You have equal opportunity to get lucky as every other player, and if players choose to spend money on keys for what equates to 1/4 of a piece of armor or weaponry in the late game, or the exp boosts for skills they dont really feel like grinding (looking at you Agility, thank god for Silverhawk Boots), then let them. you dont have to, and you truthfully lose nothing by not doing it. Jagax has always been extremely fair when designing its content, I'd know, this is probably my 5th account after losing passwords since 2000.
