Kinda crazy that a click-to-move casual MMO with mobile-tier MTX is almost as expensive as the most expensive MMO. :)

You also get 16 character slots per server for one membership fee in WoW. You want to alt an ironmeme? Better pay Jagex another $11/mo!

Jagex made a 50.8% profit margin last year[1]. Don't believe the gator tears. Your sub money is majority going to investors in China, not JMod salaries or improving the game.

As I've said on earlier threads around RSOF RuneScape is worth every penny as there is plenty to do in game, there's something for everyone as long as you still enjoy the majority of the game. The sad part is I feel the price increase is not going to the employees of the company, if it was the case where the employees were getting a wage rise I would support even though I'm one of those players that struggle financially.

People are over looking the last paragraph where it states that they opened up many positions in the company and hired some new people. Everyone is whining because of the price increase and are focused on the planned updates, when they should reread that final paragraph which warrants the price increase. I bet the average age of the people whining about the price increase are less than 30 years old.

you are speaking of this:

Also, for the past few months, we have been opening up a large number of positions to support the RuneScape team and mobile release. Those are being filled now, so you should see a number of new names contributing to these projects in the near future.

what is a large number?

a player did math showing a sample increase based on if they have a lapse and then rejoin. they propose a 14m a year increase. how many employees is that?

they had a 75m profit last year. they suggest that this large number of new employees cannot be paid with the 75m, however the 14m will pay for them. why? they want to hold on to their own money. guess what ? so do players. players who have experienced the very inflation that has been proposed as a legitimate reason for the tax hike. i do not pay with money, i pay with game gold, an increase in gold for bonds based on higher bond prices costs me in real life time, way more than real money. this is an effect on me..........

A CURRENT PLAYER--EVEN IF MY MEMBERSHIP NEVER LAPSES.

"it only effects new players is false.

how many new positions are in support?

a week or two ago i merged my greegrees together and goofed around in ape atoll. when i teleported to edgeville it disappeared. i submitted a ticket. i still don't have my greegree.

as it has been said many times it is not the price hike, it is an unwarranted price hike that is the problem. the entire world sells entertainment, the customer has every right to evaluate the "bang for the buck".

To be perfectly honest, the fate of this year lies in two updates: Mining and Smithing Rework, and RS Mobile. Bank Rework is already being rolled out soon, so no complaints there.

I don't know where you're getting "soon" from. Bank rework is intrinsically tied to the background work being done for Mobile. Jagex have stated several times it will only be released after that abortion is unleashed on the world.

I don't think the issue is with the price raise for most, it seems to be more rooted in "am I getting what was promised this year?"

This. And the answer is a resounding "no" so far.

Elite Dungeons

One potentially great update (elite dungeons), one potentially decent update (POF) and one boring update that should've come out months ago (Solak). Combining the price increase with the outrageous MTX selling, I still don't really see it being justified, unless you toned down MTX. E.g. if you removed TH, then it'd be understandable.

As stated above, your price changes and game content and lack of quality are not worth your new price rates.
Jagex, your greed is killing our game.

In an ideal world, Jagex would realise many players are annoyed at them for the dribble they spill and dull updates that seem to come off the endless conveyor belt of promises.

Then why would you put membership prices up?
Is this suppose to make us all suddenly love every single update to justify spending more.

OR

Is this going to annoy everybody further and make us swing more to the side of leaving the game than paying for recycled content ideas.
