That is how a for-profit company works, yes. Capitalism drives a free economy. Producing a product and selling it for-profit is, despite what the world seems to think today, not a bad thing. Capitalism breeds innovation and developments. If there's money to be made doing something, someone, somewhere, will invest the time, and capital, to increase their financial wealth.
The issue arises when you begin to ask a price that's too steep for what you offer. It's the same reason that every car on the road isn't a Veyron, but this price increase is on a much smaller scale for the individual. RuneScape is an entertainment source, if what it offers underperforms something similarly, or less expensive, it becomes the Veyron. If it offers more value per-dollar than something similarly priced, it becomes a Honda Civic. It's going to get you from point "A" to point "B", but it's going to do it more economically.
There's nothing wrong with asking $1.7 million dollars for a car. Most can't afford it, some can.
There's also nothing wrong with asking for a price increase for membership if the quality of the content is there to support it. For many in this thread (including myself) we do not feel the c
There's the issue of advancement and expectations. As technology advances in computers the price stays the same for more ram/memory/processor speed. Jagex on the other hand is trying to charge more for what is actually expected to remain the same even if more is provided.
This is why I will never be a member again, it's the same reason why I would not pay $200 for a stick of memory that cost $100 a year before when production cost has actually made it cheaper to make. Artificial Inflation is bad business.
