So I've tried adding a name I want to my friends list to see if it was taken and it said "Unable to add friend - unknown player." so I was waiting for the letter to be released which it hasn't yet but now I add the name again to my friends list and its taken. So how did someone get the name when the list of names for that letter hasn't been released? I've tried changing my name to it before and it said unavailable.

Is it possible that you were typing it differently by mistake (name unavailable) and that the version with the spelling you intended had already been in use?

Jagex isn't releasing lists of the released names this time around.

Hi jagex, I have been trying to grab a name i've had my eye on for a while and saved up enough money to buy myself a membership once again to treat myself for a hard year. In my stupidity I clicked the change name button WHILE my name was the exact same and the client went ahead and "changed" it to the name I already had. This used up my namechange and it says I have to wait :| can someone have a look at this and try sort it for me please? You will be able to see my name wasn't changed

I just tried getting the name I wanted but it seems as though it was not released. When I look it up in rune metrics it hasn't gained a level since Aug 2012 making it seemingly inactive. Been waiting for the name for well over 5 years.

The user of the account may login occasionally to keep their name, without gaining any visible levels/xp
