It's amazing how they have cash to buy this company and that company, paying way more than starting from scratch.
Oh what a sad day that would be if selling your soul is the final outcome.

" The row over Brocket Hall comes after a high-profile fight about the future of the Wentworth Club in Surrey, which was recently bought by a Chinese company.

Existing members were told they would be kicked out if they did not pay a £100,000 'debenture fee', while annual fees were doubled to £16,000 a year.

Protests against the decision have been led by the likes of Sir Michael Parkinson, with long-term members arguing that the changes will restrict the club to just the global ultra-rich.

The number of members at Wentworth is set to be cut from the current 4,000 to 888, because eight is a lucky number in Chinese superstition."

I have no idea whether it's the same company involved but I hope that Runescape members won't be treat with that much contempt.

But Jagex can also make a deal, something like:
"Okay, you can have this company but we have some conditions." And they list a few, such as
Never replace Jagex HQ to another country
and
Jagex will be the only one responsible to updates.

No, if another company buys Jagex it is theirs to do with as they wish. Jagex cannot dictate terms on a company they no longer own.

And as for vague accusations of racism on this thread. I think most of us are fully aware that the ordinary Chinese man in the street is being as hard done to as the rest of the 99% of us based elsewhere. Some of us still remember what happened in Tiananman Square!

you idiots with your trigger warnings and pc nonsense.

Lets look at this, a FAILING company from a DECLINING economy on the brink of a RECESSION is OVERPAYING for a FOREIGN company. This is money laundering in it's raw form people.

let entertain the idea of that even been remotely true... You going to still need a law firm or two plus 100 million dollars to even take them to trail for the next half decade with the possibility of losing and paying all of the courts fees. :)

Jagex will always decide the terms, thing is the Chinese will have 100% of Jagex now and decide these terms as Jagex.

From the British owners to the American investors to the Chinese... this can actually be interesting :)

I'm not concidering that, I'm just stating while this idea (although it is probably a done deal) sounds good, it should not be entertained.

The amount of China phobic comments on this thread is mind numbing. People need to get a hold of themselves. You're treating a legitimate business and a country as if its a group of petty thieves. It's quite disturbing that Jagex is allowing such comments.

Experience shows that this is a reality. As I posted before, the portion of the company I work for that is based in China acts like a separate entity. They withhold information about our customers there; they try to block direct contact with their customers; they make agreements with their customers that we don't offer to customers elsewhere, etc, etc. Our staff at the China location is supposed to abide by the same company rules, but the don't.

If I'm lucky, the customers from China can read/type English, and they contact us directly. Still, any actions we want to take HAVE TO go through the China office, and they frequently ignore our requests.

For me, I will quit of both concern and principle. "Legitimate" company does not mean a desirable company.

If that is not enough, the Invention disaster showed incompetence in development, and the focus on MTX has already turned me off. My membership is worth very little overall. People "buy" their way though the game--not play through it. I do suspect that the amount of MTX was designed to boost the profit picture and make RS more attractive to buyers. Again, my membership is worth squat.

I'll miss RS, but I won't regret leaving.

As for Jagex "allowing" these comments, it makes me wonder why a Chinese company would want to buy an online game where a good portion of the player base is voicing opposition to the deal.

China is not a skin color, gender, etc. It is a country with a reputation for bad business practices.

The problem I see with your rant there is that this mining company is nothing more than the face of the deal (they already have OTHER backers involved).
