The amount of China phobic comments on this thread is mind numbing. People need to get a hold of themselves. You're treating a legitimate business and a country as if its a group of petty thieves. It's quite disturbing that Jagex is allowing such comments.
Experience shows that this is a reality. As I posted before, the portion of the company I work for that is based in China acts like a separate entity. They withhold information about our customers there; they try to block direct contact with their customers; they make agreements with their customers that we don't offer to customers elsewhere, etc, etc. Our staff at the China location is supposed to abide by the same company rules, but the don't.
If I'm lucky, the customers from China can read/type English, and they contact us directly. Still, any actions we want to take HAVE TO go through the China office, and they frequently ignore our requests.
For me, I will quit of both concern and principle. "Legitimate" company does not mean a desirable company.
If that is not enough, the Invention disaster showed incompetence in development, and the focus on MTX has already turned me off. My membership is worth very little overall. People "buy" their way though the game--not play through it. I do suspect that the amount of MTX was designed to boost the profit picture and make RS more attractive to buyers. Again, my membership is worth squat.
I'll miss RS, but I won't regret leaving.
As for Jagex "allowing" these comments, it makes me wonder why a Chinese company would want to buy an online game where a good portion of the player base is voicing opposition to the deal.
China is not a skin color, gender, etc. It is a country with a reputation for bad business practices.
