Am i the only person whose excited about the acquisition? Change can be good, so many of you are focusing on all the bad things that could go wrong without seeing the potential good.

Of course good things could potentially come from this.

But a LOT of bad things could (and probably will) come from this.

Basically made an offer they can*t refuse and probably already sign all the documents just going through the backchannel ling and lawyering for the paper works to be filed. The truth of the matter was that on the front page is something a lawyer would write up because the amount of clauses in that page that was written wouldn’t even stand up against anything.

At the end of the day investors don’t play this game as they are too busy playing the money game which is a lot more fun to be playing when you got money to play with irl. It’s a nest egg and someone just magically appeared out of nowhere and went oh hey you seem to be doing well maybe we can do it better hey here going to pay you double what your worth go do something else.

Simply putting it if it was me and someone for example offer me max stack gp for my black santa hat I’ll go sure man where do I sign. The employee here are just that employees if anyone want to get the attention of the people that actually matter it’s the investors which I speculate already sign the deal and waiting for that $$$ to come into the bank account sipping on some 40 thousand dollar bottle drinks in a nice pent house suite in New York.

But yeah that just business and business does suck sometimes but business can be a good thing too as they now got to make the business they are buying/bought profitable after paying premium dollars for it. I feel for the Jagex employees and what changes are going to be for them over the next 1-2 years.

The only thing at worst we might lose is some minor/major changes to our game play but what they could lose is a lot more then what we can imagine I mean they are people going through a take over process and if you look at business takeovers... That a very scary thing especially if you got families and love ones to support. The funny thing is all of the Jagex staff and employees are the ones wishing the hardest that nothing will change for the company too.

anyone think that we should try and get another game company to buy jagex?

I'm thinking valve.

Then we can finally get Runescape on Steam!

Am I the only one who doesn't really care?

As long as the game is playable, doesn't have annoying ads shoving down our throat at a hourly basis, development continues as usual, I don't care who has the majority.

I don't want to sound offensive (but I guess some of You will take this as a personal attack) but you guys act like ... who're afraid of Chinese. Like **********, but people afraid of another culture.

I understand that a company who has no experience in the gaming industry can lead to fatal mistakes. But Jagex can also make a deal, something like:
"Okay, you can have this company but we have some conditions." And they list a few, such as
Never replace Jagex HQ to another country
and
Jagex will be the only one responsible to updates.

They can make a deal, they can still make and develop the game so "business will be as usual". Just because someone else owns the company it doesn't necessarily means that they are here to mess everything up. But don't quote on me that if that happens. O_o

I really hope that Jagex can make a good deal and they could be in charge in the future, at least for the games they've developed over the years.
We just have to wait and see what happens.

Stop worrying! :D You don't have much reason to do so... yet.

What this sale seems to display is everyone connected in anyway with Jagex deciding there was no long term future that would result in profit. They just seem to be jumping out while the money is still good

@Kisszuperman

Probably got to do with the fact things just happen so quickly in a short space of time with no prior announcements that people were just playing one day and the next day was a for sale and sold sign that took a lot of people by surprise.

Nothing really going to change this year as business is probably going to be as usual as if anything the Chinese take pride in business and are really hands on wanting to know how to get it right first before doing things themselves so I would imagine that only good for the community having close working ties with the employees and leading the whole business into the future.

The whole market place is pretty competitive with up and downs going to have to stay ahead like Runescape have been doing for awhile now but how many times have you all complained oh you should do this or go do that to Jagex? Just wished someone else was running the whole thing maybe yourself even?

Well I'm pretty sure a lot of edrama was caused by IVP taking over now they are stepping aside so some of you should actually be celebrating... Or does everyone got a short memory when just a couple of years ago people crying out blue murder.

All those complaints everyone felt like was been force on them those same people now everyone suddenly love and want to be with them? Well they sold everyone out as fast as they could. Plus if they were getting 300m it's a lot of money I highly doubt that is the actual amount since journalism is rarely truth.

Unless IVP spoke person confirms or deny the actual buyout sum we'll never know the price the new owners bought for. They are not going for a slice of the pie I don't believe been a silent partner is that either because they want the whole pie all for themselves wasn't something 55% like IVP took so they could just have controlling interest. IVP if you look at what they did is they dip into it and went oh nice this is good and bought more. These guys just going oh I want it all right now.
