Based on that fact alone, the game will be changing no mater how you slice & dice it.
The game is always changing. It holds the Guinness World Record for being the most prolifically updated game. And the deal hasn't been finalized at all. They're simply discussing a potential share transfer. If you read the first post in the thread, you'll see that one of the points of the deal is that the direction and development of the game remain with the developers, as it always has been.

It is also worthwhile to mention that Shandong Hongda will not be just "an investor" who has a limited say in how the company is run but rather they will be the owners.
Every shareholder is an owner in part or in whole of the company they hold stocks in, regardless if you call them investors or owners. Holding more shares of a company gives you more power for your votes in the board of directors, however once you have 51% of the shares, you have the majority vote. Having 51% or 100% of the shares is equal in that respect, so the fact that the entirety of the shares may be sold to one investor is irrelevant, as the majority of the shares is already owned by one investor.

Seeing this news is certainly concerning...
Simply put, myself as well as many other well invested Old School players-first sight of any MTX or updates by any other means that differ from the current methods, you have my promise that I will not continue my membership with Jagex.

ooo ooo you forgot one "We will not be making anymore holiday item tradable, it's detrimental to the economy and the game." said by the man himself mod mark. when jagex says they're not going to do something take that as a hint that it most likely will happen.

Absolutely, there's no way possible that Jagex that we know now can say things won't or never happen. When they break their own promises who are they to say another company won't either.

As F2P, I guess we have no say in this as we aren't a paying member thus not holder of any share in RuneScape?

As a long time player and 9yrs worth of membership.. we don't have a say either I'm afraid.

What plans does the firm have for Jagex and our games?

The most important thing is that it’s business as usual for Jagex and for our games. The studio’s management has always been in charge of decisions relating to the continued development of our titles, and we don’t anticipate that changing. It’s the games and you as the community which have made us successful and the potential investor fully understands this as well. In the event that these negotiation

With all due respect, You can not possibly know what will really happen once a buyout happens. Your headquarters could be moved to Beijing and your entire staff could be laid off. I would advise Jagex to take a look at other tech companies that have done business in China. In the case of Google, they ended up pulling out of China all together when the Chinese Gov wanted them to start handing over their technology as a condition for doing continued business in China. Oh, and lets not forget the censorship component to google's decision.

If you accept a buyout by a Chinese Iron mining company ( who would of thought, right? ) Then the Chinese government will have your tech, your name and control over every aspect of the game.

Do not sell the company to a country known for suppression of expression. This buyout to me actually stinks. Really? An Iron Mining company wants Runescape? Common, sell the company to Google or better yet, just stay British for the love of all that is holy.

What are you banging on about?
Players can leave in thousands but if they introduce a crap tonne more MTX they'll still be in profit zone. Especially if they exploit OSRS and the fact it currently has none by adding some.
