1. It can turn over their profits
2. As the Chinese Government is cracking down on tax fraud and corruption, those who have profited from it are seeking to move their ill-gotten gains out of the country before they are caught. Because of this, this company *this is just a theory as i mention COULD* could be wanting to stash away the money that Jagex is worth. Simple analogy
You have been breaking the rules to make GP. Jagex then launches an anti-scamming/cheating and whatnot campaign. You buy items in game and move them to an alt *out of "your country"*. The items represent Jagex as a company and you the company in China. You would invest somewhere else to stay ahead of the crackdown.
I'm not accusing them of anything, simply presenting two possibilities. What really is not a possibility though is the Chinese economy is on the verge of collapse. What this would mean for Jagex, i dont know. I trust you to make the right decision Jagex, just heed this warning as a possibility.
While I think your concerns are legitimate, I also think they are overblown.
(1) The Chinese economy is going downhill but the economy for the Chinese gaming industry is still much stronger than its western counterparts.
(2) If a Chinese company wanted to hide its money from the Chinese government, they might better buy a shell registered for business in a country which doesn't require the company's financial information to be made public. Keep in mind there is the Company House in England, the Chinese government can still snoop out secretly hidden money through it. They also don't need to spend $300 million. There are a lot much cheaper alternatives.
You also don't seem to realize the current Jagex makes the right decision for themselves regardless of what happens to the Jagex 3 months later, since the current owners will get $300 million to invest elsewhere
