IVP bought Jagex in early 2012 right? Well, what happened after 2012? Oh yeah, loads of players quit and MTX started...

they bought jagex in 2005, not 2012

Correct, but what they probably meant was that IVP gained the majority share just before MTX were introduced. They became the largest stakeholder and had the most influential say, which means they were most definately supporters of it.
they got thier majority share in 2010

im not trying to say they didnt have anything to do with mtx, im trying to point out that investors have to play the long game if they want any chance of making money back

ivp had a large share of jagex for nearly 8 years before they started pushing major changes like mtx

if this new investment does go through, the investors need the game to survive to make the money back, and seen as they have no experience with the games industry, the best chance it has of surviving is for the investors to leave it alone for the most part

They gained majority share holder in 2010

Incorrect.

By majority I mean 50%+.

Enough to, for the mostpart, pro actively manage the business with less consent needed from other stakeholders. It was 2011 when IVP secured a 55% stake in the company (when their previous share was only 35%.)

******* ******* ******** is a venture capital firm that invested in Jagex Ltd. in October 2005[2], and in December 2010 increased their investment as The Raine Group and Spectrum Equity Investors made initial investments.

As part of a growth investment, Insight increased its investment to 55.45% as Raine and Spectrum joined. In a press release, Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard said "Insight has been part of the Jagex family for a number of years and it has been a real pleasure to serve alongside them on the Jagex board." Tedder, Andrew Gower and Paul Gower left the board of directors as representatives from Raine and Spectrum joined.

In what bizzaro universe does a failing mining corporation buying a video game company sound like a good idea?

Because, you know, it's soooooo much better when video game companies buy other video game companies. Just ask Bullfrog? Ugh... Origin Systems? Maxis? Pandemic Studios? Mythic? Phenomic?

Ohhhh... oh, that's right...

Whatever happens happens I guess. I have not been too pleased with much of what has happened lately, and it just seems to be harder and harder to get use to the NewScape. I wish Jagex and most of all their Mods and other employees the best in this decision.

Mod Balance says that they are still in talks, but according to everywhere else they done sold out. We as the RS community need to stay together, no matter what version we play. We need to respect the new owners. Most of all hope they don't ruin the game that we have played for 5, 10 or 15 years. Lets support the new owners and give them the benefit of the doubt that they will make RS last another 100 years.

You guys really think the deal isn't already done its mods job to keep you all calm the deal has already been made

They've already done goofed at that point.

No talking within ~5 hours with all these complaints?

Not even to try to calm us?

In fairness, it's midnight in Jagex-land.

Having said that, posting this then basically saying "Cya, we're off for the night" isn't the best PR move.

I just want to know if I should unsub now if my progress will be ruined on oldschool like it was when EoC/RS3 happened.

They need to talk to us. Midnight or not. This is not some game update, this is the future of runescape that we are talking about.
