Why would IVP care about the game?
Because they actively invest in the game and don't want it to close?
I wasn't clear, compared t a large payout why would they care about the game over money? They are an investment firm after all.
If you guys take this deal I don't think it'll impact the game too much, as people enjoy Runescape for what it is.
That being said, if you guys rake in that kinda cash, can there please be some effort to try and set up Oceanic servers. It sucks to be at a disadvantage at times especially during boss fights or pking.
Does this mean that we will have to start using vpn's if we do not live in china or risk getting banned?
God this is awful news, and to anybody saying ty jagex for "keeping us in the loop" think about it, they only "kept us in the loop" because it was outed online eventually, this has not been an overnight thing and we were immediately told about this, they told us because they had to in the end.

Mod Mark and a few Jmods were picking up some second hand servers that they'd seen in the window of Cash Converters. On the way back to the office in the Jagex van they stopped off at Mr Wu's to pick up a takeaway. After taking their order Mr Wu's wife opened the door to the backroom, where Mr Wu's daughter was sat at her dad's computer, pking on her main. She spotted Mod Mark, and, immediately recognising him from a BTS vid ran out and said 'hey, I play your Runescape game'*
Mister Wu, impressed that his daughter was so happy, offered Mod Mark an extra bag of prawn crackers, along with a carton of yummy barbeque spare ribs, in exchange for the publishing rights to Runescape. Mod Mark licked his lips and smiled. The deal was done.

I wonder what security would be like in China - how safe would our Characters be...
Our characters will be as safe as they are know - the game architecture is not going to change.
