The problem with that is the fact that China has NO copyright systems. If they get access to the source code, undetectable bots will be sold by the Chinese version of Jagex.
Um... why would Jagex sell bots for their own game, when they could just continue to sell bonds and treasure hunter keys to players?
Easy:
1. Make Chinese version of RS.
2. Monitise it to the EXTREME.
3. Sell bots and pretend they aren't from their own company.
4. Profit 2x.
They wouldn't profit 2x though, as someone who buys a bot is less likely to spend money on the game itself for bonds, promos, etc. Someone who can get level 99's in a short period of time by botting most likely won't stick around for very long either.
If anything, having a counterpart in China would actually be handy in dealing with goldfarmers coming from that particular region, as the parent company of Jagex could now take legal action in China, whereas it is currently quite tricky for Jagex to take legal action in China.
You do know that if the source code for the games are shown to ANYBODY in China, someone will bribe them into leaking it so that they can make bots for it.
There's almost NO copyright system in China. This is a bad deal and they messed up by not providing us with a counter-alarm to this deal announcement.
