Couldn't it backfire and end up attracting players to gold buying? Players who'd never thought about membership/cash/gold trades will start through bonds, and then may realize prices are cheaper in the black market and go there instead. Even if the prices lower, they might start getting more bussiness.

kinda makes sence

Good point, but I think the basic idea will be that players who buy gold will buy from JAGEX instead. Players who don't like to pay money for anything other than membership will remain skeptical of this update.

I really like the cover story about curbing gold farming. Enjoy your fat Christmas bonuses this year boys!

I personally think this is a fantastic thing. This hurts no one. And if folks are going to "buy gold" wouldn't they rather get it legit through Jagex?! In my personal opinion this is a great update, great idea and a big win for everyone.

And I am sure no one can argue with the greatness of anything that aids us of being rid of more bots and gold farmers etc!

Also, I hope people understand this IS NOT injecting new gp in the game. When you purchase a Bond with real world money you must sell it IN GAME to make that gp. If Jagex were "selling gp" that would be a gp injection which of course would be disruptive to the economic structure more. This is a superb way of keeping the flow of in game gp more stable while still letting people benefit using real world money if they so wish.

So your aim is to stop gold farming and players buying.

This wont work due to the price of bonds for real money being £4 or w/e then selling it on for 7m = £40 for 70m.

£40 for 70m is alot more expensive than gold farmers

I like the twist in your wording I can't stop laughing
but really you are not fooling anyone
( if you couldn't see through it JaGeX want a share from sold money ) .

Better JAGEX than Chinese computer mafia.

The part upon Mod MMG's speech that hit the spot the most was when he said that 'approximately 50% of our current active playerbase bought gold regularly from gold farmers per month'.

He cannot be any more right on that one. I've always confirmed the above belief ever since the return of free trade.. and now a Jagex authority has confirmed that belief. It would explain the sudden visibility of wealth in the forms of discontinued tradeable items you see in most low levels and low combat xp players these days.

The myth of 'staked', 'flip' or 'merch' has been blown away by Mod MMG's up-to-the-point and matter-of-fact statement. Observing regular players such as I myself can see it when you buy your gold for the item you wear or the buyable skills you have, so perhaps next time try to hide it by training your combat levels and xp more.. instead of going around the Item Discussion forums and proclaimed your place 'as one of the few [gp] billionaries' in this game - which by the way.. is simply not true considering the amount of players who have billions these days (doesn't mean they regularly flaunted their wealth publicly).

I 100% agree with Mod MMG's initiative, and those who complain that 'Jagex RWT' can ***** themselves. Some (or 50%) of them are probably connected in some way (if not outright buy in the past) gp illegally from gold farmers anyway.

When JAGEX bans mods they cut themselves down a lot of money. In truth, it would probably be more profitable for them just to allow mobs. But no, they use their money to attack their "customers" to make the game fairer to those who works. This might be a way for them to replenish some of the Hirt they're taking here.
