Yes, RuneScape has become a pay-to-win game.

It wasn't at all a couple of years ago.

The phrase pay-to-win means you can pay to get ahead in the game.

If you pay money to get a virtual item that helps you play better, that's pay-to-win.

Now you can pay money, and it's not against the rules, for anything that's for sale at the GE. Just buy a quantity of Bonds, exchange them for gp at the GE, and buy that item.

Now money buys gold and virtual items. That's pay-to-win.

RuneScape is never going to be pay to win. The introduction of bonds doesn't allow players to purchase items that are not available in the game already. In addition whilst bonds can be traded between players for items, however, this doesn't guarantee success. Knowledge of the game and experience in it cannot be traded or purchased easily, instead that is something that comes with time and effort playing RuneScape.

In addition to this success, or winning if you wish to phrase it that way, means different things to different people. For some it might be hitting 99 in a skill, others it could be completing a quest, or having a large circle of friends.

idk if redfox is trolling or dumb. i think i'll go for the second option.

Why not just ban all gold farmers, and their customers? That would surely work, no?

Because jagex doesnt want to loose half their customers. If it were a lesser portion of the population, they would do that. but seeing as "40-50%" of the runescape population buys gold they wont ban them and take the loss of literally hundreds of thousands of dollars (or euros)

Yes, much better to drive away the honest, loyal, rule abiding player base to keep the cheating 40%. Make a lot of sense to me.

They give every advantage to and cater to the cheaters? Why should honest players want to continue to pay for THAT experience?

Who cares if the ppl who buy gold get in risk? They DESERVE IT they DEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSEEEEEEERRRRRVVVVVEEEEE it!

My feelings exactly, I couldn't care less what happens to those people.

We understand why many players might feel like this, however, this is like saying that the victims of crime must have deserved it in some way. We have a duty of care towards the safety of all of our community and the reality is that there are varying levels of both experience and maturity within the large and diverse community that makes up RuneScape and it is, almost invariably, the most vulnerable that fall foul of these scams.

They are the victim of crime because they are breaking YOUR rules. Your obligation should be to the honest, loyal, rule abiding customers you have. Our experience is ruined by your support of the cheaters.

WOW!!!! Just WOW!!!

You would be helping the cheaters more by penalizing them for cheating and rolling back and confiscating their ill gotten gains than by coddling them. What udder nonsense.

Couldn't agree more, the point is that the victims of a crim generally dont do nothing to deserve it. But the players who buy gold, dig, in fact, their own grave , they are pretty aware of what might happen and still they didnt hesitate a moment before getting cash the easy way so why would you care for their safety if they dont care for it themselves?
