Wow there's a lot of ignorant posts. First thing I saw after reading this was "I thought jagex was against RWT"...
Did you guys miss the "A crackdown by Jagex on gold farmers in RuneScape has cut the wealth generated from the practice by over 80 per cent" part?
This is against RWT. I can't think of anything else they could possibly do to fight real world trading. This isn't just a way for Jagex to "make more money".
And if it is, they sure put a whole lot of effort into making up fake-legitimate-reasons on why it's good for everyone.

As for my personal opinion, I'm only even playing Runescape because it's "free" for me now. My friends put together the money for me to buy my first bond and I've made the rest myself ever since. Being able to buy membership with in-game money is amazingly helpful.

In the past now with the bonds everyone can get membership, and actually enjoy the game and if it keeps bots and Gold farmer out of Runescape even better :) And you can help your friends get membership since there are so many
Moneymaking methods by helping them once you can give them life time membership :) and the game is much more fun if ya gone do the p2p mini games,quests and etc with a friend then alone :)

Yes, indeed they are. Jagex could have done that without bonds.

As it is, Jagex used something that a lot of players want, namely getting membership by paying gp, in order to get players to support something that most of the players don't want, namely legitimizing buying gold with cash.

As it is, Jagex used something that a lot of players want, namely getting membership by paying gp, in order to get players to support something that most of the players don't want, namely legitimizing buying gold with cash.

Tell me how they can do that without harming their profits? If they just sold it for GP then they would soon run into money trouble. I also like that I can buy runecoins with bonds. So do you also suggest they sell them for GP without bonds? The game would not be sustainable that way.

Awesome idea. There's some hate on the update (no surprise) and I didn't read but a few pages, but I AM surprised there isn't a ton of hate on it. That still is probably just me not reading more than 5 pages.
