Just wanted to make a quick clarification:

This is NOT a gold sink, as Mod MMG so nicely put it.

A gold sink is a source where gold can leave the Runescape economy (ie. Buying a mithril longsword from Varrock Sword Shop - since the Gold can no longer be spent it is no longer in the game). Since the Gold used to purchase bonds from other players will only change hands between players, the Gold does not leave the Runescape economy, and therefore is not a gold sink. In essence though this may have an impact on RWT (most likely only a little dent), I have a feeling it will hurt the Runescape economy in the long run.

Didn't think this was ever an option, and in my opinion the only change will be a slight drop in Gold Seller's prices. So with Gold made easier to purchase for players, more people will most likely look into RWT.

For a maxed player you don't understand things well.

This is a (albeit small) gold sink if someone buys the bond then decides to sell it again. They have to pay a fee (10%) to make it tradable again.

It seems Jagex have sent out a press release saying that gold farming has gone down by 81% since bonds came out. It's on some trustworthy sites so I think Jagex have actually said that though I suppose it could have been faked and then spread.

I don't know whether that is true or it is a manipulation of the figures. :P

Rho, Mod Pips made a sticky thread in the Bonds forum on 02-Oct-2013, Bonds – One Week On . It's no longer stickied, but it had a statement about what bonds had done in a week.

Warkus, welcome to the forums!

Jagex sells bonds to players for cash. Those players take the bonds to the GE and exchange them for gold. Other players buy bonds at the GE with gold, then use them to pay Jagex for membership and other things.

Look for a Develop article 'Jagex chokes Runescape gold farmers with bonds system'

"A crackdown by Jagex on gold farmers in RuneScape has cut the wealth generated from the practice by over 80 per cent."

“We’ve had a great response from the community since Bonds launched." O_o

Thanks, Kiwi, I found five different sources which apparently all quoted Jagex's news release in articles.

I'm glad to see that bonds have affected RWTing.

That doesn't change the fact that the way Jagex did it was by selling cheats to players.

Is is better that Jagex sells cheats or if RWTers sell cheats? No. Neither is better.

Is it surprising that Jagex's cheats have pushed out RWTers cheats? No. Buying cheats from Jagex won't get you banned; buying them from real world traders will.

Changes the bonds in gold? Much has been one of the value of bonds?

It costs five dollars to purchase a bond from Jagex. Right now the exchange rates for bonds at the GE is 6.5M gp. So a player can buy 6.5 M gp for 5 dollars. The price of bonds on the GE has been fairly stable since bonds came out over a month ago.
