Blizzard uses these things called lawsuits to reinforce their rights.

Jagex jumps in the mud and eliminates the competition to monopolize, while seeming good-intentioned to the fanboys.

"We're doing this because we don't want people to be taken advantage of(lol), and bot-makers can't just be sued...oh, they can? That's beside the point, we offer a secure way to buy gold under the guise of giving diluted membership to your online buds :]]] Do it for them, and to save yourself the trouble of playing the game legitly."

Well, it might just be me but this game is ruined. There are far too many "outfits" to buy and the pride in achieving the best armour by effort and skill capes has disappeared. Focus seems to be on what to buy, rather than what to work towards.
No wonder the community has dissipated. Runescape cannot compete with all the other games out there any more, there is no longer a USP and no real point in playing this any more.
Only log on to chat to friends made over the years. Sorry guys, but mega fail I'm afraid.

At first when bonds came out I was furious, well, as furious as you can be when you've been in an emotional fury for the past few years over Jagex's updates.
Anyway, after a long period of reflection and thought I have come to a conclusion, and here it is:

Dear Jagex,
you seem to be just adding whatever takes your fancy to the game these days, so there's no point in asking you to listen to the players.
However, in the process of adding "controversial" content to the game would it hurt you to actually be honest with the players about why you are doing these things? I don't mind if you tell me TO MY FACE that you are adding something that I don't like to the game, but don't hide behind a vale of lies and deceit.
When you slam my face down onto the floor, don't try to tell me I liked it, I DIDN'T.

Perhaps I am not making myself clear. When you add updates to the game you seem to have a tendency to act as if your decisions were actually in sync with the wishes of the players. You hide behind fancy words and false explanations, you tell us it's for our own good while you line your pockets in the background.
You're starting to look less like a gaming company and more like politicians everyday, what with all the maneuvering, and BS fed directly into our ears. This needs to stop, sorry I mean only to dishonesty part.
Just have the courage to tell us the truth about things. You can tell us that you want more money, we might even understand. But don't lie to us about it, that helps no one, especially not you.

ps. Still not sure about the whole bonds thing. :P

As did Jagex for years. But it just doesn't work since new ones replace the old every time. Blizzard are also a far bigger company so can afford to use the courts far more than Jagex.

Though I still believe bonds were a way for Jagex to cash in on RWT. But I like them since I can get SGS stuff now.

What if Jagex already is telling the truth, and you simply refuse to believe them?

A few years ago I would have believed them, but since then they have had to many instances of going back on their word (in spirit, even if they use a loophole) and manipulating figures to suit themselves ('90% of players enjoy the SoF').

Just wanted to make a quick clarification:

This is NOT a gold sink, as Mod MMG so nicely put it.

A gold sink is a source where gold can leave the Runescape economy (ie. Buying a mithril longsword from Varrock Sword Shop - since the Gold can no longer be spent it is no longer in the game). Since the Gold used to purchase bonds from other players will only change hands between players, the Gold does not leave the Runescape economy, and therefore is not a gold sink. In essence though this may have an impact on RWT (most likely only a little dent), I have a feeling it will hurt the Runescape economy in the long run.

Didn't think this was ever an option, and in my opinion the only change will be a slight drop in Gold Seller's prices. So with Gold made easier to purchase for players, more people will most likely look into RWT.
