Very interesting concept of taking away gold farmers, and taking gold out of the game.
Will be curious to see if this actually works out in the long run. I'm sure Jagex knows more about the Runescape economy than the players flaming this idea. They have the data and statistics from THEIR servers and THEIR game. Most of the players don't even take that into consideration. True it does look like "just another way to get money from players." However, If this gets rid of gold sellers(after all their the ones who engineer the bots) then it will be well worth it. I literally quit playing several times when bots and gold farmers carried this game. It is meant to be a social game, and you are suppose to have fun. The people, the players that buy gold don't realize buying gold ruins the fun of a game... comparable to cheats. They will realize this later on when they have massive amounts of cash with nothing to do in the game anymore. The bonds will take gold out of the game, unlike bots that put it into the game ruining the economy. *With everyone running around brainlessly botting taking the fun away from the game.* I think over this year Jagex has come a long way in clearing up this issue for good. I will be very happy if this gets rid of large scale botting and gold selling.(with the help of bot watch) maybe.... just maybe I can finally enjoy this game once again. Thank you for all your efforts Jagex, don't give up.

too long;didn't read
Interesting concept, Jagex trying to solve bot/gold issues for good. Might finally make the game more social and fun again. Worth a shot.

If bonds end up being more expensive in-game than what gold farmers sell their no effort gp that is made, it's not gonna work :l

The bonds will bounce up and down in price for a couple of months and that is inevitable, but in time as more and more people start to buy and sell them and they become more accepted the prices will stabilise at one price-point that everyone agrees on.

Of course there will be some penny pinchers who will still buy from botters for the sake of a few pence, but is the risk of having them run off with your money worth the risk?

Especially as this update will eventually decimate them?

Just sell us GP directly, Jagex. Get it over with...

If Jagex sells gold directly then that is them pumping billions into the gameworld themselves which makes the problem even worse and also means that they are directly controlling the price of gold which never works, by giving people the power to decide to sell their game items for membership or whatever the wealth is simply being redistributed while there is an active goldsink too. The fact that people over time set the price of gold means that it will eventually find its own equilibrium due to supply and demand.

I have over 400M, not a lot to some but I can make 20M+ every trade, why should I not sell a small portion of that to someone who needs a small bit of help and get me some members?

And yes, I used to be a player moderator so I am not just someone who buys and sells gold previously, but a different approach had to be made because the old way clearly was not working. This is the best solution :)

It looks like they're going to stabilize at a point that's ineffective to stop bots. The price of Bonds on the GE has to be high enough to be somewhat competitive with RWTers. Right now, bonds are selling on the GE between 5 and 6 M gp each. They need to be 15 to match RWTers.

If this keeps up Jagex will make Bonds more attractive to players by offering more per Bond. That means give more membership for a bond, more spins, more runecoins, or offer something else.

My prediction is that Jagex will be offering xp for Bonds by the end of the year. You'll be able to trade in your bond for lamps.

@ Nabu

They won't offer lamps, that really would be shooting themselves in the foot. If people can buy lamps direct then that would shorten their gaming lifetime here by a massive amount.

I agree that they will probably offer more spins per bond though.

What is with this childish approach to this thread? You're not providing a game to three year olds.

Hi my name is Jake and I hate bonds, Eoc, SoF and SGS, I think Jagex is biased, out for money nothing more, arrogant, ignorant and refuses to see the problems they create. There post my opinion with all the other oh-so-praising opinions in your thread.
