29,903 players online now! That includes 11,000 old school players and free to play people. I think it also includes other games by jagex. Any time you have a poll that asks if you should reduce game worlds and people say reduce them cause there are not enough players to fill current worlds, then you know game is dead dead dead.

Runescape is truly dead and MMG is digging the hole to bury it deeper every day. The Wall Street Greed Cadre have killed it. All the graphic updates and reworking old content to pretend the rework is new content also killed Runescape.

I am very sad. ALL OF MY FRIENDS HAVE QUIT. They are NOT coming back now no matter what Jagex does. They were loyal players for many years like me. Jagex is NOT getting new players in numbers that will save Runescape. Updates like this just drive more players away. It is the players that drive new players to come to a game because the players tell others what a great game it is. No one is out there telling others to come play Runescape.

The playing screen is full of crap that covers up the view of the playing field. IT is ridiculous and unnecessary. Just Jagex trying to show they are doing something even if it is seriously stupid.

My suggestion is take Runescape back a couple of years to what it once was and get rid of most of the crap you have added. You might have a decent game again. Then get real developers who will open new areas of play with new skill ideas and put some of this money you are grubbing into development instead of into your own pockets.

I will have nothing to do with bonds. I got my slayer cape a month before eoc and do no combat now as I HATE END OF COMBAT. I am here mostly for Player owned Ports and the armor has been reduced to not worth making, scrimshaws are worthless and rocktail soup not worth buying might as well eat rocktails instead.

Why am I here you ask. That is a dam good question and I ask myself that every day. The answer wont be good for Jagex

As an long-time F2P, I am glad to hear that I haven't wasted my time playing this game for hours on end and that I can finally earn the benefits which I could not afford because of real-life circumstances.

Having said that, it does seem as if Jagex is taking advantage of this new system financially:

*A bond which costs $5 produces only 14 days membership ($10 for 28 days). Where as a monthly membership cost *7 for 30 days.

*Money that would have exited the game in the pockets of gold farmers, is now being given to Jagex. This creates a money trap
, where money enters but never leaves (like Hotel California). While it is great to see that excess fund are being reinvested into the game, unless players are given more options on how they can spend their new in-game currency - it could feel restrictive for players (like they are being forced to buy only in-game runescape stuff.
A solution to this conundrum is for Jagex to go the extra Kilometre and introduce rewards program in partnership with other companies, where player will be able to exchange bonds for real-life stuff (like what most credit card companies do with their rewards programs).

The runescape player base has been falling over the last couple of months in terms of active population. So I'll wait for about a month and see if this "bond" thing catches on or if it actually destroys runscape (like the Grand Exchange fiasco of 2007).

Well, not saying it will, but I think if Runescape did die, personally, what I'd do, is make the game available for download via the site, OR, sell it on Disks at retail stores so we could play offline.

That's just my personal opinion, and I don't think RS is going to die.

But you never know, I have played games which were up for years, not nearly as long as Runescape mind you, but they just packed up, they didn't even -try- to make the game available in stores to play offline. They didn't give a crap.

I'm hoping -if- the same fate befalls Runescape, that Jagex will consider putting the game on multiple disks that we can install onto our own computers.. perhaps even make it to where players can make their own servers.. like what Minecraft does.

Then again, even with that offline save to rack in some more cash for the company, I'd still be a bit disappointed my online game was gone.

But Runescape has been up for a long time, so, I'm not worried. I just think what is making people leave, is the fact that Runescape was founded a certain way, it's not like the games you see now where they offer Gems (Bonds) AND Gold (GP) for items where people are already introduced to this type of play from the start. Runescape is becoming this, and from it's old roots, people I feel are mad because they hate games that provide this type of gaming. Makes the company look greedy.

I know I'm stating the obvious.. but personally, I just play games and blow too much money on them. Since 2011 when Jagex really kicked off IGP (In game purchases) is when I spent more money on Runescape then I ever thought I would.

I'm a sucker.. but a happy sucker no less. :P
I'm on YouTube - Search me at Littlejayberry . Or don't. Up to you.

Name-changed the other day because RuneScape is the most casual game I've played online; and now Mark tells me I can buy anything with real currency so I can be rich without actually merchanting playing * the game :O

Why is everyone so angry? Now you can show off your wealth while being even more of a casual! You won't have to pile bosses waiting on your RNG to reward you with loot when you can swipe your mom's credit card for some 'look at me' gear!
The only downside will be when everyone shows up in full <Status Gear> with Max Capes... then nobody will be a special snowflake.

I don't get it. So, because it works in other games and thats how "they" do it, then it is how "we" should do it.

I think that maybe your underestimating your player base.

What are some of the things that drew you to RuneScape compared to going to another online game?

For me, It was the feeling that no one could buy their way into success, and that we were all on an equal playing ground depending on how long and efficiently we played.

The gps never really bothered me about not having much because I tried to make my account pretty much self sufficient.

I hope whatever your trying to do works, wether it is to finally shut the game down or to shut the bot and gold companies down.

Jacmob and RSbuddy: that is where they got their data I believe. If there really were that many cheating, then what I loved about the game has been long gone.

I am jagex and im digging a hole, diggy diggy hole, I'm digging a hole.

The game is over now. You can just pay your way however you like now. Where are the "Your real life status doesn't matter" morals? Sorry, but they must be desperate for cash if they are releasing this. It's over, let's face it. Time to see if Jagex is selling accounts on ****....

Its a shame that discussions about the people who have cheated are not allowed.

You lose credibility by admitting that the people who cheated are not punished

you lose more when you don't allow the players to complain about cheaters not being punished.
thinks Jagex should honour the results of the original Old School Poll
